The board game format has been rather a hit and miss affair when it comes to consoles but the Mario Party series always gets the recipe for fun just right. You play as Mario, or one of his friends, in a 3-D board game where you throw the dice to move ahead on the board and collect goodies along the way. Depending on which colour square you land on you might get coins, candy or a surprise, with the winner the one who collects the most stars. Read more
Mario Party 8's core gameplay is dull, the mini-games uninspired and the presentation severely lacking. One all but the hardest of Nintendo fans should avoid. Read more

Other crew members like Slyoldfox, FroFro, Rian and Zwan can confirm the fact we had a lot of fun with Mario Party 8. It's a pretty good game, but still, it's mostly the same concept as the previous versions. Whether you should pay that much money for it? In short, if you love board games - and the luck that you need with them - and you like to play minigames, then you should buy it. Read more
In the end, Spore delivers exactly what it set out to do. Due to its very nature, there will be some people who are not completely happy with the game. Perhaps something they liked didn’t get enough attention or something wasn’t fleshed out as much as they would have wished. When you get down to it, we are all like that as gamers. Read more
I love this game! Me and my sisters play it all the time. We are all in our 20's which goes to show there isn't really an age limit. Even though we hate each other whenever someone else is winning, it's definitely allowed for some quality time together! I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a game that isn't too strenuous and doesn't take much skill, but is still a lot of fun! Read more or see product
This is the first Mario Party Game for the Wii. It lacks extremely new innovations from the Gamecube versions, but is fun to play. Most players from old games remained the same. For little kids it will never get boring. For the Wii, it is a major hit due to its popularity. Read more
I love this game! Best Mario Party yet. Great for playing alone or with friends. Mini games are fun filled using the Wii remote. 5 stars by far! Wii games are always a bit pricey, but I bought this off of ebay for half the price from a pawn shop and am very glad I did so. Highly recommended. Read more
This game has EVERYTHING you need for a Mario party! It's like going to the carnival in your living room :) The only thing is the games get old after a while, and wasn't a big thriller for us, for the price, but other than that it was fun Read more

The game Mario Party 8 can be played either in single-player mode or in multi-player mode. Anyone who has been playing Nintendo games a lot probably is well acquainted with most if not all of the characters that appear in Mario Party 8, such as Yoshi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Princess Daisy, and of course the plumber brothers and Nintendo mainstays Mario and Luigi, who had appeared in the previous Mario Party theme video games. The player needs to unlock certain characters to continue in the game, having a total of 14 appearing in this particular Wii-format video game. Some of the characters have double roles to play, therefore may be expected to appear more frequently than others.
Mario Party 8 is a board game. The game features a carnival theme. A Party Tent houses the main board game modes, with each of them having slightly different rules. The carnival also includes the Star Battle Arena, which is a single player game similar to the normal party game; a Mini-game Tent, where unlocked mini-games can be played; an Extras Zone; and a Fun Bazaar, where players are able to see their records and redeem their point cards. However most of the game cannot be controlled by only the Wii Remote. Players take turns hitting a die to go through the game board. Into the game you’ll get bonuses, activate traps, or even change the construction of the game board itself. The main focus is to collect as many stars as possible before the end of the game. Mario Party 8 can be played by both single players and multiple players. All the players keep in a brief mini-game, which can be played by 4 players, each playing for himself, or 3 against 1 or 2 versus 2 players. The color of the space that each player is positioned on determines the set the mini-game is selected from. Mario Party 8 consists of dozens of mini-games. When you start a mini-game, screens with text and animations explain the rules and controls of the game. Mario Party 8 lures players to keep on playing by providing a large array of unlockable items and features, obtained by redeeming point cards.
See lessIn Mario Party 8, a whimsical ringmaster has invited Mario, Peach and the rest of the crew to his carnival, a perfect setting for the dynamic spectacle of the Wii game play. Mario Party 8 keeps the surprises coming with minigames that draw upon the Wii Remote’s motion, pointing and button control in a variety of ways. Players always know how to jump into the action by watching an animated tutorial that shows how to use the Wii Remote.
