The player needs to unlock certain characters to continue in the game, having a total of 14 appearing in this particular Wii-format video game. Some of the characters have double roles to play, therefore may be expected to appear more frequently than others.

Mario Party 8 is a board game. The game features a carnival theme. A Party Tent houses the main board game modes, with each of them having slightly different rules. The carnival also includes the Star Battle Arena, which is a single player game similar to the normal party game; a Mini-game Tent, where unlocked mini-games can be played; an Extras Zone; and a Fun Bazaar, where players are able to see their records and redeem their point cards. However most of the game cannot be controlled by only the Wii Remote. Players take turns hitting a die to go through the game board. Into the game you’ll get bonuses, activate traps, or even change the construction of the game board itself. The main focus is to collect as many stars as possible before the end of the game. Mario Party 8 can be played by both single players and multiple players. All the players keep in a brief mini-game, which can be played by 4 players, each playing for himself, or 3 against 1 or 2 versus 2 players. The color of the space that each player is positioned on determines the set the mini-game is selected from. Mario Party 8 consists of dozens of mini-games. When you start a mini-game, screens with text and animations explain the rules and controls of the game. Mario Party 8 lures players to keep on playing by providing a large array of unlockable items and features, obtained by redeeming point cards.

Other crew members like Slyoldfox, FroFro, Rian and Zwan can confirm the fact we had a lot of fun with Mario Party 8. It's a pretty good game, but still, it's mostly the same concept as the previous versions. Whether you should pay that much money for it? In short, if you love board games - and the luck that you need with them - and you like to play minigames, then you should buy it. If you just want lots of minigames and an innovative use of the Wii-mote, then you... Read more

What Mario Party has always done better than its competition, though, is glue these minigames together with a structure that's easy to understand, straightforward to play, and competitive enough to provide enough stimulation for rewarding group play. That's no different here, and let's be honest, who looks to party games for stunning originality, cutting-edge presentation, and engrossing single-player modes? It's Mario. He parties. So will you. To be honest, I have never played a Mario Party game, not Mario Party1,2,3,4,5,6, or 7. I guess this game sell millions, thus the iterations that it spun off. I don’t know what to expect going into this game. I’m going to grab a few of my buddies and play this best seller and see how it goes, ready? Read more

In keeping with the previous 7 release titles, this is a great party game. The use of the Wii-mote absolutely carries this game. Otherwise, it's just Mario Party 7 without the microphone. Overall, a good game to get if you have $50 burning a hole in your pocket, and definitely pick it up if it's on sale. If you have a previous version (perhaps MP 6 or 7), then wait 'til it's a little cheaper. Read more

This game is similar to the previous Mario Party games. Has lots of mini-games for everyone to enjoy. This game doesn't have the microphone like Mario Party 7 on the Gamecube. In this game, you earn carnival cards that you can use to unlock new games. All in all, this is a very good game to play with your friends and family. A must have for the Wii console. If you enjoyed the past Mario Party games, you would love this one too. Read more

This is the first Mario Party Game for the Wii. It lacks extremely new innovations from the Gamecube versions, but is fun to play. Most players from old games remained the same. For little kids it will never get boring. For the Wii, it is a major hit due to its popularity. Read more

Mario Party 8 for Nintendo Wii is a fantastic game for people of all ages! It's safe, fun, and not violent. Just because there is no violence does not mean it's no fun for adults. It's the kind of game for competative families or friends because it involes using a great multitude of strategies and tequniques. I bought this game because it was a family oriented game that involved physical activity. It was an easy to use kind of game for my whole family that had no... Read more
