They say that we’re wasting our time playing games: rotting our brains away, ruining our eyes, straining our joints and not learning a single thing of any real importance. Hang on a moment though, gaining a knowledge of the glorified game of Rugby that the American’s oddly call Football is something that the Madden series has gave us in recent years. Read more

If the dog days of summer are nearing an end and kids are heading back to school, it can only mean one thing in the world of videogames: the new Madden is about to come out. The annual football release from EA has become a staple of the gaming calendar—the one week of the year when hardcore fans and guys who buy one game a year all wind up at the local Gamestop to get their fix. I have to admit, I've never been the hugest videogame football fan. Read more

In the realm of landmark birthdays associated with young adulthood, eighteen sits low on the totem pole, lacking the excitement that accompanies turning sixteen (when you’re legal to drive!!) and twenty-one (when you’re legal to drink!!!!). Sure, a responsible adult is happy for their right to vote (after all, people did die for us to have it) but being eighteen isn’t about being responsible, it’s about doing fun stuff, like driving (legally) and drinking... i got this game as soon as i got my console and i hve enjoyed the game since it has amazingly easy gameplay, but you do have to know about nfl to be able to play this game, because you have to pick the play and you have to know what is going on. although there is a run through of the rules on the game which may help but they dont give you everything you need to know. Madden NFL 08 is a continuous of the series which is about football. This game has some added control refinements, a huge increase in mini-games, a new mom-friendly "Family Play" control option, and online play. This package is great and it surpasses the other games in this series. Madden 08 includes lots of gesture controls, those who played the 07 version will be familiar with it. Most of the controls are brilliant. Being the ball carrier more motion controls will be at your disposal. Moving the Nunchuk left or right will move to the right direction. Moving the Wii Remote left or right will, likewise, throw a firm ball, and throwing it forward again passes the ball to the selected receiver. A quick shove forward will cause a powerful move. Superstar Mode is remarkable; you can create your own player and guide him through the NFL, with interviews, IQ tests, practice, and actual games, progressively building his stamina and skills, over the course of a full career. However by creating your character, you won’t be able to pick plays because the computer does all the in-game coaching for you. There are some good things about the game, including the new weapons system that makes it easy to pick out the star players on each team. Plus, the simplified menu is great, it allows you select what type of defense or offense you want then lets you pick a play from within that category.
