This game has some added control refinements, a huge increase in mini-games, a new mom-friendly "Family Play" control option, and online play. This package is great and it surpasses the other games in this series. Madden 08 includes lots of gesture controls, those who played the 07 version will be familiar with it. Most of the controls are brilliant. Being the ball carrier more motion controls will be at your disposal. Moving the Nunchuk left or right will move to the right direction. Moving the Wii Remote left or right will, likewise, throw a firm ball, and throwing it forward again passes the ball to the selected receiver. A quick shove forward will cause a powerful move. Superstar Mode is remarkable; you can create your own player and guide him through the NFL, with interviews, IQ tests, practice, and actual games, progressively building his stamina and skills, over the course of a full career. However by creating your character, you won’t be able to pick plays because the computer does all the in-game coaching for you. There are some good things about the game, including the new weapons system that makes it easy to pick out the star players on each team. Plus, the simplified menu is great, it allows you select what type of defense or offense you want then lets you pick a play from within that category.

On the other hand, going back to the game’s presentation, you have the option of having commentary from Al Michaels and John Madden, which is pretty mainstream, or the new radio commentary by… the radio guy. While it was nice having the radio guy for the past two titles, he really seems like a placeholder now. Again, EA... Read more
After last year's surprisingly well-crafted Madden NFL 07 launched with the Wii console, many longtime Nintendo fans who had never looked twice at a football title were singing the game's praises (including myself). The FreeMotion system created by EA was responsive, intuitive, and above all a lot of fun. Bullet and lob passes could be thrown by changing the sensitivity with which players swung the remote, and motions like snaps and free catches required similar actions... Read more
A fter the last year debut on the Nintendo Wii and becoming one of console's top sellers, the expectations were high for the '08 edition and fortunately this latest edition does not fall short of them. Like other EA Sport games in the series, the Wii version is suitable for longtime fans and the newcomers alike. Cleverly, EA -like what it had done in other sports games released for the Wii- has built the advanced controls schemes (with Nunchuck and Wii remote) for... Read more
In the realm of landmark birthdays associated with young adulthood, eighteen sits low on the totem pole, lacking the excitement that accompanies turning sixteen (when you’re legal to drive!!) and twenty-one (when you’re legal to drink!!!!). Sure, a responsible adult is happy for their right to vote (after all, people did die for us to have it) but being eighteen isn’t about being responsible, it’s about doing fun stuff, like driving (legally) and drinking... I read all the reviews of Madden 08 (got the game last Dec) and I thought I might as well give this a try. I was not disappointed with the gameplay at all although there are some notable exceptions. The graphics will not wow you because it seems like it is a port of the PS2 version of Madden 08 but it's not like the PS1 version of Madden which would be weak compared to today's games. With me, it is a question of is the graphics good enough and the answer is yes. If you... Read more
