One of the best uses of motion control to date. The WiiWare platform has certainly not been as successful as either PSN or XBLA. Read more

I can’t fault a $10 WiiWare game too much for being short but I will dock it a bit for being perhaps too simple. The puzzles are quite easy to figure out by just observing the screens for a bit although the developers did... Read more

    • Gorgeous visuals, unique environmental puzzles, excellent use of Wii controls and a cute (and somewhat touching) story.
    • Too short and too easy.

The biggest complaints about the original LostWinds were that it was too easy and therefore didn’t take long to complete. Thankfully, both of these issues have been addressed - the difficulty has been upped slightly and the... Read more

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias is a action game developed and published by Frontier for the Wii game console. In this game players assume the role of Enril the Wind Spirit to protect and guide the young boy Toku while he jumps and glides, suspend and smash new enemies, and explore all-new expanses of the magical land of Mistralis. The game takes gamers on the adventure to save Toku’s mother, lift an ancient Curse and thwart the evil Balasar. Players are able to instantly transform Mistralis between Summer and Winter, harnessing the power of nature. Gamers dive and unlock secrets, freeze or douse enemies and use the very air itself used to form snowballs or moisture-laden clouds. Other abilities include the cyclone, which can be used to transport Toku, smash enemies and drill through the rocks of the Mistralis’ diverse, richly interactive Chilling Peaks and Melodia City areas.

Features

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias is the follow up to 2008’s best-selling, award-winning WiiWare™ launch title ‘LostWinds’. The game features intuitive new gameplay mechanics, and lets gamers wield the Wii Remote™ to use the elemental powers of Enril the Wind Spirit to protect and guide the young boy Toku. LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias is available to download directly via Nintendo’s WiiWare service. Gamers are put to task to rescue Toku’s mother, going on a race against time that takes them through the Summerfalls Village, which has been beset by an eternal winter, and the Chilling Peaks in search of the Melodia City. Gamers explore and realize that Magdi’s immediate fate has been entwined with that of the ancient Melodia people centuries ago by the shadowy hand of Balasar. Gamers are presented with new abilities, plus all of Enril’s power from the first game, to guide Toku through Mistralis and protect him from new minions and a poisonous adversary sent by Balasar to thwart them in their battle to lift the curse and save Mistralis.
