Conclusion: I half-agree/half-disagree. I definitely agree that there are better examples of the metapuzzle genre, and a lot of LIT focuses more on the progression and combination of familiar elements. at the same time, I think a lot goes into figuring out how to use cherrybombs (for example, ok, well they explode, so then can i hit multiple objects? ok can what can i break and what can i break.
Conclusion: I either misunderstand or disagree with what you say about LIT being a “metapuzzle.” When I think metapuzzle I think along the lines of Myst where you are given no direction so you need to experiment with the environment. While LIT had a little bit of this, such as whenever a new element was introduced, it overall was more focused on solving puzzles rather than figuring out their mechanics.
