An authentic, and faithful JU-ON, Grudge experience.
18 October 2009
Summary: I am in love with the Ju-On and Grudge films, there is just something about them that draws me to them more than any other horror movie. I have watched both Ju-On films, The Grudge 1, and 2 films many times, and just watched the recently released Grudge 3 and was very impressed with that one too. Even though I have the films almost memorized, and I know when all the scares are going to happen, they still manage to creep me out.
Summary: This game is a haunted house simulator so don't buy it thinking you're buying an epic game. I had fun with this one, it scares the poo out of you at the most unexpected times. You basically use the wiimote as a flashlight, look for batteries for your flashlight, and try to avoid that crazy ghost in the movies. Whats funny is when you finish a stage depending on how much you shook the remote at scary moments you get graded on your wussyness (if that makes sense).
Summary: This game is an interesting game to play but it has its flaws. The controls, especially the flashlight, is terrible to control and it often decides to not follow your directions with the Wii remote and you spend a lot of time trying to get it to go where you want it to go. It is also horrendous to try and turn around as you wait forever. The game for a single player is not especially scary; you have to rely on the game for the scares which you kind of get used to.
Excerpt: "Story 4/10 Epic fail here. Considering the films created a wonderfully rich story behind these 'curses' and the characters, the developers already had a backstory and a lot of history to play with. Did they? Did they heck. If I remember rightly I didn't even really figure out what was going on until roughly the 5th chapter by checking out the pause screen. I mean seriously, most of what you think you should know is told via the pause screen. Didn't ...
Pros: One of the scariest games I've ever played, innovative
Cons: poor story, even for the Wii the graphics aren't super
Summary: I bought this cheap because I want to play it but was put off by the bad reviews, I hate you haters because the game is MEGA! Yes the movement is slow but when I've been in scary situations I don't exatly go around stomping and running, its realistic as is the sound effects. And it is soooo much fun to play it on your own, find out where the jumpy parts are then make your friends play it in the dark and laugh at them. Top game, watch the film and then play.
Summary: I've read a lot of bad reviews about this game. Some comments are justified - movement of your character through the game environment is slow and it's frustrating to have to retry failed levels from the beginning. The game isn't in the Silent Hill/Resident Evil genre so don't buy it if that's what you're hoping for. Grudge can simply be described a fairground haunted house simulator and works well on that level.
Conclusion: OMG.I'm a huge fan of horror movies, and have been for 30+ years(roughly all my life),and the grudge movies scare me like horror movies used to back to when i was a young lad. Really made me scared of the dark again. So naturally,i was always going to buy this game. And this game messes with my head as much as the movies.
