Summary: I'm a little surprised at how many high rating this has received. Not that it's a bad game but it does get a little boring going around in circles on the same track over and over. We purchased this as a racing alternative to Mario and this is good for that, but we also purchased F1 2009 for the Wii and it is much more fun than Indy 500. F1 2009 offers more track choices and interesting layouts (rather than going around and around the same track).
Summary: This game is a ton of fun. Takes you back to when racing cars was the most exciting thing. Works great with a wheel controller. Down side is the stuff you do when your in the pit is hard with a Wii controller. I got this game very cheap on Amazon. Its worth trying.
Summary: I first saw this game when I was searching for a good cheap racing game. I found it! This game is easy enough to pick up quickly, yet challenging enough to make you earn your glory. Plus - video footage from old races in between games, reality of game is believable. Minus - you pretty much have to unlock everything, while I enjoy a challenge, my schedule does not permit me to spend hours mastering a recreation from the 60's where a driver narrowly dodges three wrecks in...
Summary: Be warned. The description for this game makes it seem like you can race any of the chosen cars from 1961 to 1971 whenever you want. Wrong! You must complete missions to unlock additional cars and years. "Dodge" is the second mission and it's incredibly frustrating to try and survive 5 catastrophic accidents within a 1/2 lap involving every vehicle on the track except the pace car. Other than this, it's an enjoyable driving game.
Summary: Not a lot of variety in challenges. Round and round on one track. But it gives you a taste of Indy 500 and the concentration it takes. The WII wheel works just fine for me. follow-up a little 6 year old wanted to compete against me with this game. He enjoyed it...in spite of having control problems. But as time continued he didn't lose interest and enjoyed pulling into the pits seeming not to care whether he won or lost.
Summary: Yeah, the track is monotonous. But the missions more than make up for that. Game play is great. 5 stars for fun. What's frustrating is the waiting. Say you're trying to beat the devious 1961 Dodge mission. You wait 30 seconds for it to load and start up, and within about 5 seconds the other cars around you have banged you up so badly that you've failed. OK, retry. What's this? Another 30 seconds of load time? Cache the bloody thing, guys!
