Excerpt: Imitation in gaming is not always a bad thing and some times, by learning from the mistakes of their inspirations, they can even be bettered. On the other hand, being brave enough to copy a well regarded game is asking for trouble, particularly if the results are undesirable. Heracles Chariot Racing is obviously inspired by Mario Kart and is a cheaper WiiWare alternative, with characters from Greek mythology replacing Nintendo‘s famous cast.
Conclusion: While Heracles Chariot Racing does not include classic characters like the Mario Kart series and is not on par with the visuals as in Mario Kart Wii, this title has solid gameplay mechanics. The controls are spot on and once you get past the learning curve you are good to go and ready to take on anyone. The lack of online play for the multiplayer mode hurts this title somewhat, but the amazing price makes up for it. For 800 Wii points or $8.00 is all this game costs.
Excerpt: This is the first time I have downloaded anything using WiiWare, and if you have yet to test out this modern technology, then next time you see something you want to play, I would recommend it. It’s quick and easy, and good value for money. So after the game was downloaded it was time for a bit of racing action. Now obviously, there are going to be comparisons with Mario Kart for any family friendly racing game, so let’s get that out the way first of all.
Pros: Colourful, fun tracks, Simple controls for all the family, Ability to play with multiple players
Cons: Only one chariot per character, Nunchuk motion sensor can be tricky, Seeing road ahead can be difficult
