Haven't I played this song before? Ever been playing your copy of Guitar Hero 3, trying to run the gauntlet that is 'Through the Fire and Flames', and wished that a couple of your friends could jump in and share the pain? Now, you can, with Guitar Hero: Smash Hits. You see, as the name implies, Smash Hits is not technically a 'new' Guitar Hero game, but a compilation of the most popular songs from the franchise. The Guitar Hero franchise has become a household name and a mega-hit for Activision. Guitar Hero games have been around since November 2005 and the franchise is not showing any signs of slowing down. The franchise is also on solid ground with Wii gamers as the series has been a mainstay on the Wii for the past couple of years. So it comes as no surprise we now have a greatest hits version called Guitar Hero: Smash Hits for the Wii. Read more

Consequently, I can only recommend this title to Guitar Hero enthusiasts that feel the band side of their collection is sorely missing the tracks included with this release. Everyone else out there could just as easily hold out for Guitar Hero 5, or wait for Smash Hits to hit the bargain bin or used section of their favorite game store. Read more

    • Great, varied set list, Master tracks for every song!
    • Redone guitar charts might be off-putting for longtime fans, No downloadable content, Songs not transferable to World Tour

New note charts and master tracks are a nice addition, but this doesn't feel like a full price experience. Read more

    • Some good songs. Band play.
    • A bunch of lame songs on here. Most of the "smash hits" from the previous Guitar Hero games are missing from this compilation.
