Anyone who has never heard of Godzilla probably never saw any of the Godzilla films, but now there is a Wii-format fighting game from publisher Atari nthat follows the storyline of the original Godzilla films.

Features

The storyline of Godzilla: Unleashed starts with a series of natural disasters that have hit Planet Earth, 20 years following the Godzilla: Save the Earth title. You can do the single-player type of game play, or opt for multi-player game play action instead. You can choose to be part of one of four factions that do battle against one another. Critics lambasted this video game when it came out in Wii-format because of issues with the storyline used, and the type of game controls Wii-format players have to use. The graphics seemed offensive to critics as well, who implied that the design seemed uninspired and did not do justice to the worldwide fan appeal of the Godzilla story.

Closing Comments Godzilla fans deserve better than this. Unleashed isn't pretty, isn't compelling, and isn't nearly as fun as stepping into the skin of giant monsters should be. Everything about this game is phoned in. This being the third Godzilla game Pipeworks has worked on, you'd think the studio would know what it's doing by now. The Toho monsters have a long, rich history that should make excellent fodder for games. It's a shame the license keeps being wasted wi... Read more

The GameCube release Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee was a surprise hit on a system light on fighting games. As a result, there was a decent amount of buzz for the Wii edition of Godzilla Unleashed . Simply put, people are going to be disappointed. Read more

  1. The Truth of the Game

    Reviewer: Pikatroid, gamealmighty.com

Godzilla: Unleashed has had many reviews. Some are made by "professionals" who talk like they've either: a. Never played the game before, or b. cut-and-pasted the review from the PS2. Then there's the fanboy review, the guy who desperately wants this game to be good. Then, they’re the review that sounds good, made good points, and sounds just about normal. This is the 3rd one. Godzilla: Unleashed, the third Godzilla game in Pipework's series. Is a great addition to the Godzilla franchise. (BTW I am Reviewing the Wii version, not the PS2 version.) This game is the best of all three. Gameplay is improved from Save the Earth, the graphics are better, and the roster is much improved. Gameplay: G:U gameplay is much better than past Godzilla games, and even other fightin... Read more
