The Endless Ocean is a video game that was developed by Arika and was published by Nintendo all for Wii. It was released in August 2007 in Japan, November 2007 in Europe and January 2008 in North America. It can be played in single player, multiplayer and multiplayer co-operative modes.

Features

The game is all about a scuba driver that exploring a fictional sea, the Manoa Lai in the US and Manaurai in the European version. It has a vast marine life world with different species to see some famous and some are rare. There are also dolphins and other cetaceans to train and be accompanied by them while underwater. There are also different diving experiences to choose from – deep-water trench exploration, wreck diving, general diving and cave diving. Through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection which allow players to have a diving buddy. The development of the game showed players more detailed marine environment.

Review Summary

Endless Ocean is a new video game on Scuba diving, which is supposed to be an exploration of the deep blue sea and at the same time being relaxing. It is about you, being a marine correspondent exploring the fictional Manaurai Sea in search of wildlife and treasure. The game is non-linear and allows players to explore at their own leisure. The presentation of Endless Ocean is striking right from the start, the front-end menus to sound effects. The graphics are quite poor, even though the games do not depend on graphics; graphics are important to give the special effects that make the games more interesting. In Endless Ocean the textures are normal and lack detail. As most of the game takes place in water, it cannot be accepted that the water effects are normal. With this dull graphics exploring the ocean floor, after some time becomes monotonous. The soundtrack of Hayley Westenra, is also boring, however the game offers custom soundtracks. Endless Ocean consists of exploring the sea, training dolphins, filling aquariums with fish, but it cannot capture your attention for a long time. Nevertheless the game is accurate and offers a comprehensive list of the wildlife, getting to know the names of fish can also be educative. One of the more interesting parts of the game is being able to train dolphins and have them explore with you. Even though Endless Ocean is an accessible and relaxed adventure it is also dull.

This game is something else. Its different, relaxing, beautiful, educational, and so much more. Of all those descriptions of this game I just mentioned, how often do you see them all associated with a game? I don't think I have ever used all of those to describe one game before. Endless Ocean is different from other game for a couple of reasons. The first that comes to mind is the fact that the... Read more
