Good game but tricky
3 March 2011
Summary: I couldn't wait to buy this game as soon as it came out. I was expecting the game to be like the original but to my disappointment it wasn't.The game is not bad at all just not what I was expecting. The graphics and colors are amazing. I found the control a bit trick to get the hang of.
Summary: Here's an adult perspective. This game is a challenge, but not in a good way. Bad design makes it a challenge. Very inconsistent in level difficulty. Check points are very spread out and, in some cases, right at the end of the level. Pointless. One mistake and you start all over... If you are without Diddy, you can get hit twice. With Diddy, four times. Controls are sluggish so you tend to get hit, miss a jump, or land on something.
Summary: This new wii game is a great sequel to the the original three Snes games, Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, and 3. This game has terrific depth, either for the beginner trying to beat the first levels, or the hardcore gamer finding KONG Letters to unlock the final bonus. Pros: Great graphics, depth, creative, decent music( not as good as the original three but close) challenging levels and bosses, and uniqueness.
Summary: I never played the original Donkey Kong games, so I cannot say how this game stacks up to the others. Rest assured, though, this is one of the best games I have played, period. Retro Studios, the guys that made the Metroid Prime trilogy, which are also three favorite games, have done an incredible job with this franchise. Sure, the plot and setup for the game is simple; a bunch of tikis steal your bananas, and you have to get them back.
Excerpt: My son wanted this game, and I was surprised it was of similar playing style as Super Mario Brothers Wii. At first I thought it was simply A LOT easier than Super Mario, but then I hit level 1-K and I still have not passed it. I moved on and am now on 4-2. So, in a nutshell, this game has some easy parts (and a SuperKong that will help you complete a level like Luigi in Super Mario) but there are also some definite hard parts.
Pros: Challenging, Easy to learn, Fun To Play, Good Audio, Graphics, Kid Appropriate
Summary: Back in the days of the SNES and Genesis, I was an extremely young gamer, just earning my gaming wings. I had a SNES, and along with Goof Troop and A Link to the Past, one of my first games were the original Donkey Kong Country. I still have fond memories of the level design, music, and good times shared with my father while playing this amazing game.
Summary: DK Country Returns is very good. Unlike most collecting games, this is actually fun to play. For the Wii, the graphics are outstanding and the gameplay is clever. I have one complaint, if DK's son has a jet pack, why couldn't HE have one! That's what everyone thinks when they fall into ditches. The evil, Tiki Tong, has taken over the jungle, hypnotized the friendly animals, and worst of all, HE TOOK DK's BANANAS!!!!!
