Summary: This game stinks. I bought it as soon as it came out on the strength of this series' history and how well-reviewed this game was on other platforms. I should know by now that just because a game is good on one platform, doesn't mean it will be good on another, especially the Wii. The controls do not forgive any mistakes - turn even slightly too far in one direction, and you end up way off course.
Summary: I bought this for my dad as a present as he was a rally driver back in the day. Unfortunately this is the only game of its kind available for wii (for reasons later made clear) so I had to get this and hope for the best despite the poor reviews. It was cr*p!! Poor dad, his face fell once he'd got it going - the graphics were very poor, reaction time was awful, choice of tracks and cars were not as described.
Summary: Don't even go there, a really big let down for me, I've done lots of PC & Wii motor racing and rallying games and this is the worst. Car handling is rubbish, graphics uninspiring, game play just nonsense. Definately a NO. I think Colin McRae would have been disappointed to be associated with it (compared to the others which were associated with him before).
Summary: I've not played any of the other Colin McRae games, so I can't comment on how it compares to these. On the plus side the handling of the cars seems fairly realistic and the races are decent fun. However, I think it suffers immensely from being ported to the Wii (having seen the PS3 adds). The worst thing is that the frame rate appears to drop to a noticibly jerky level for about 60% of the game, this isn't really acceptible for a console in my opinion.
Summary: thought it would be like old C. McRae. nice arcade style gameplay but it gets old fast every race seems the same and there is very little encentive to win races. then cars seem to all drive the same. motion controls are awfull and using regular controls it feel dated. the graphics also feel dated, even the cars look like boxes during gameplay.
Summary: Dirt 2 should be an awesome game for the Wii. With a great platform and equally great possibilties avaliable, Dirt 2 is a real let down. First of all the graphics are pathetic for a game in this day and age. As mentioned by others, the driving response is useless and unrealistic. Another let down is the actual game format is the fact that it is simply race with a limited selection of cars to unlock extra tracks. There is no real life simulation like damage and money!
Summary: I`ll keep this short: Terrible graphics, on -the-rails handling, probably the worst driving game Codemasters have ever produced, and that includes their time making cheap-as-chips, bargain basement ZX Spectrum games. Avoid.
Summary: I submit this after playing once, so it may get better in a week or two. I can forgive a game having bad graphics, if it has good gameplay, this hasn't. Playstation 1 Graphics are better than this. The game looks and handles like Kawasaki Quad bike challenge, which is also rubbish. Shame on you Codemasters. If this is anything to go by I won't be buying F1 2009, which I was reasonably excited about. Boring, unplayable cack.
Summary: If you've ever played any of the other Colin McRae titles, or any race simulation for that matter, keep away from this! The graphics are a joke, and so are the physics. Honestly - back in the 90's I've played racing games on the Amiga which had far more convincing physics and about the same graphics... but those were more fun. This might be an easy racing game for kids, but Mario Kart is a way better alternative if you're looking for that.
