Dead Space: Extraction

Square-Go
1 December 2009
  • Excerpt: There’s a reason not many games are ported from Xbox / PS3 to the Wii, the power of everyone’s favourite white box simply isn’t up to handling the graphics of many PS2 games, never mind those of the newest console generation. So it was with some trepidation that we approached Dead Space: Extraction , not so much a straight port of the 2008 Xbox critical hit, but a prequel that converts the gory 3rd person shooter into an old-fashioned on-rails shooting gallery akin to...

Dead Space: Extraction

Game Over Online
28 November 2009
  • Excerpt: It’s Like… …a surprisingly complete Dead Space experience on the Wii. Other than a switch from a third-person to a first-person on-rail shooter, Visceral Games compromised very little in bringing their survival horror franchise to the Wii. Extraction serves as a prequel to Dead Space. The story revolves around a group of space colonists from the Aegis VII colony who are fighting against the infection of Necromorphs created when the Red Marker was removed.

Dead Space: Extraction (Wii)

ccgr.org
28 November 2009
  • Excerpt: Strong Points: Graphically pushes the Wii, easy controls that never caused problems, sound used heavily to add to the already horrific atmosphere. Weak Points: Too easy on standard settings, several glitches and frame rate drops, becomes repetitive at the end. Moral Warnings: Intense, bloody violence and gore, foul language used frequently, nudity tossed in for no apparent reason.
  • Pros: Graphically pushes the Wii, easy controls that never caused problems, sound used heavily to add to the already horrific atmosphere.
  • Cons: Too easy on standard settings, several glitches and frame rate drops, becomes repetitive at the end.

Spore

Square-Go

Spore is the latest game from Will Wright, creator of The Sims — the bestselling PC series of all time. Like its predecessor, Spore pushes the boundaries of contemporary game technology, and capitalises on new, novel trends. In Spore , players guide a creature through its evolution as a species.

Dead Space Extraction

The Gamers Temple
25 November 2009
  • Excerpt: Date: 11/24/2009 By Kevin "Berserker" Hall Player(s): 1-2 (local only) If you were consumed in the hype for Resident Evil 5 last year and skipped over Dead Space in the process then go get it now. You just skipped over one of the best horror action games of all time. Dead Space used the familiar Resident Evil 4 gameplay engine along with an even creepier atmosphere to make a very memorable action horror that should be played by all horror fans.

Dead Space Extraction

Game Boyz
23 October 2009
  • Excerpt: Released last year to favorable reviews, Dead Space was a fresh take on the horror/action genre. Unfortunately for Wii fans the game was released only on competing consoles. Thankfully Dead Space Extraction fills this void in the form of a prequel to the original. This new story adds a unique control scheme for the Wii and a new viewpoint as well. How does it stack up? Extremely well in my opinion. If you want more details on what I thought read on for the gory details.

Dead Space: Extraction

D+PAD
16 October 2009
  • Conclusion: Dead Space: Extraction is a welcome shot in the arm for the Wii, which has arguably been lacking these sorts of experiences since its very inception. A must for all Dead Space fans, then, but what it lacks in scares and scale it makes up for in visceral heart-pounding action. Whilst a little short, there’s plenty of replay value here with alternate routes and the top grades for each level to aim for.
