Crystal Defenders R1 Review

Cheat Code Central
9 July 2009
  • Conclusion: Crystal Defenders R1 is an extremely straightforward, arguably antiquated take on the Tower Defense formula. The game also appears to be a shameless cash-in on the Final Fantasy namesake. In spite of all that, it's still an undeniably fun strategy romp that's perfectly suited for younger gamers looking to get their feet wet with something a bit more challenging. At 800 Wii Points, however, it feels a bit over-priced, especially considering it offers only one save file.

Crystal Defenders R1 [WiiWare] Review

WiiDS.co.uk
8 May 2009
  • Excerpt: It’s been a while since I last played a good strategy game and when Crystal Defenders R1 came out last month, I thought I’d give it a go; since it’s developed by Square Enix anyways. They seem to know what they’re doing. Originally released for the mobile phone formats, it was initially known as Crystal Guardians in Japan.
  • Pros: Simple strategy game, but difficult, Some nice variation in game environments, Post best scores on the online leaderboard
  • Cons: Could have done with some larger levels, perhaps?, Online support is limited, Some may find the whole thing repetitive

Crystal Defenders R1

Eyes on Nintendo
9 September 2009
