Cate West - The Vanishing Files is a Wii game developed by Magellan Interactive and published by Destineer and is about the story of Cate West, who has been haunted by the vision of her father’s death for 17 years. The story evolves around her quest to uncover the truth over a series of mysterious crimes by someone who is linked to the murder of her father. The game requires players to use Cate's powers and hunt down the clues to uncover the link between her father's murder and these crimes. Players compile evidence, track down hideouts, and discover the link between these crimes and an unsolved mystery from Cate’s past.

Features

The Vanishing Files features three different endings that are correlated to the way players need find clues and solve riddles. It features 5 Investigation Types, where each crime scenes call for different techniques. The game spans 75 levels across 15 chapters and 29 locations, and players have to find clues, evidence pieces, and differences between two similar scenes to recreate crime scenes and use everything they’ve learned to identify the criminal. It also features Multiplayer mode that allows gamers to team up with a friend to find clues in Story Mode, or go head-to-head to see who is the best detective in Competitive mode; ability to use the Wii Remote to clean away dust from clues, or as a flashlight to uncover evidence in a darkened crime scene or use the new magnifying glass feature for a closer look at your surroundings; and over 1,000 clues in 57 unique backgrounds. It also allows gamers to replay their favorite puzzle in Quick Play mode. The game also features 29 different locations, including a rusted out tractor on the outskirts of town, a metallic gray subway car, a Chinatown market and an urban alleyway covered in posters and graffiti which will be visited repeatedly to gather clues. The game features a scoring system that awards points for how well the game is played. Time used to complete a scene, ability to apprehend a suspect quickly, or finishing a scene without using any hints all contribute to the points award system. Using hints sacrifices points, so players will be encourage to use their own deduction and intuition to guide Cate through her investigation. How well the player does in the end will lead to one of multiple endings featured on this game.
