Calling (Wii) Review

411mania.com
4 November 2010
  • Summary: : While Calling does provide some scares and a somewhat interesting synopsis, the game fails to really capture you and features too much repetitive gameplay. If you’re a patient person you’ll likely find something fun with this game but the more you progress, the more likely you’ll find yourself a bit on the bored side. It’s a decent first effort by Hudson with this type of game but it’s too unpolished to truly enjoy.

Test Calling

Generation NT
1 June 2010

Calling Review

Cheat Code Central
26 May 2010
  • Conclusion: It's tough to pull off a survival horror game that doesn't feature much combat, but that's no excuse for making navigation a chore and boring us to death. Wii owners who love pointing their flashlights around in the dark should stick with Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, or visit their local cemeteries after midnight.

  • Excerpt: I’ll admit it, I’m afraid of quite a few things. Spiders give me the creeps, I hate crowded highways with stupid drivers and you won’t catch me anywhere near _____. You know what I’m not afraid of? Weird and pale Japanese girls with their hair in their eyes. Yet for some reason, every form of horror media seems to think they’re the next Jason Voorhees.

Calling Review

GamerNode
12 March 2010
  • Excerpt: Japanese horror, no matter what the medium, thrives off of thematic convention. Hudson’s Calling is no different. Although it suffers from sub-par visuals, awful voice acting, simple puzzles, and minimal gameplay variety, it still maintains its appeal thanks to intriguing presentation, atmosphere, and its ability to connect with natural human fears and curiosities.

Expert Review

Official Nintendo Magazine
11 March 2010
  • Excerpt: We really wanted to like Calling. With the terribly flawed Ju-On: The Grudge missing the mark and Silent Hill then restoring our faith in survival horror, we hoped Hudson would give us a truly terrifying and engrossing experience. Instead, it's about as exciting as a long weekend locked in service station with Anne Widdecombe, and not even half as scary.

“Boezemt te weinig angst in”

evilgamerz.nl
6 September 2013
