Bleach: Shattered Blade Sega of America, Inc. created the Nintendo Wii version of the game Bleach: Shattered Blade. It contains eight episodes created solely for the Wii version. The video game is categorized as a fighting game ideal for teenagers.

There are a host of unlockable characters which followers of the TV series may not be familiar with. There are also 32 characters who were sourced from the anime series, and whose voices are played by actors from that same series. Each of these 32 have special talents and skills which are unique to that character alone. The storyline revolves around a teenage boy who finds that he possesses supernatural powers and can actually see spirits. Game play is via the Wii controller. One reason the video game did so well is that the writer and the artist collaborated closely to produce a great video game that even older folk will like.

Review Summary

Bleach Shattered Blade is a game sure to please fans. The story is convincing and the characters look great. Bleach Shattered Blade is about a group of characters fighting each other with samurai swords with a mix of Japanese and American cultures. The use of the Wii's motion-sensing controller differentiates this game from others; the attacks require a tap of the wrist which converts into a destructive swordplay on your television. However most players will get sore wrists from playing this game, even overzealous gamers will definitely feel some pain. By using various slashing, chopping, and poking motions, you swing the characters' blades. Buttons can be used to modify the attacks for more power, while the Nunchuk attachment is used for movement and blocking. Moreover the controls are unique and add to the fun. There are four different ways to play this game but they all turn around the same central plot, which is invasion by members of former captain Aizen's army. Most of the characters' story modes lack any real depth. Dialogue scenes in between battles function more like placeholders. The opening and closing scenes of each situation are still pictures with voiceovers and scrolling text. After one hour into the game, it becomes repetitive and boring. Those experimenting Bleach Shattered Blade for the first time will love the novel mechanics which is fun.
