Band Hero

Nintendo World Report
28 October 2010
  • Summary: Activision tries to capture the female tween market. For the rest of us, this is just painful.
  • Pros: Compatible with downloadable World Tour and Guitar Hero 5 songs, DS connectivity and online play, Truckloads of content; great for parties
  • Cons: "Exclusives from Adam Levine of Maroon 5, No Doubt, and Taylor Swift!", Pretty awful, generic aesthetic, Wii instruments are kind of a hassle

Band Hero

Game Boyz
28 December 2009
  • Excerpt: Anyone who knows Activision knows that they truly are immersed in releasing a vast number of music/band based games onto the gaming masses. Band Hero is a new franchise aimed squarely at casual gamers as well as family oriented gamers. Fellow reviewer Trevor H had a chance to review the Xbox 360 version of the game. This was the game only. I on the other hand had the opportunity to review the full band kit version of the same game but on the Nintendo Wii.

Band Hero (Wii Bundle)

Digital Chumps
9 November 2009
  • Conclusion: Band Hero is, in many ways, the first of its type: it’s a music game that offers the same ambitious selection of features as the industry blockbusters preceding it, except with a unique focus on top-40/pop musical content and the accommodation of shameless family jam sessions (via more age-appropriate lyrical subject matter and a milder musical tone).

Kidzworld
7 November 2009
  • Excerpt: Love music games but want something a little less, well ROCK than Rock Band and Guitar Hero? Welcome to Band Hero (cause Pop Hero sounds funny), where most of the songs were pulled straight from the pop charts.

Expert Review

Official Nintendo Magazine
9 November 2009
  • Excerpt: Yes, we know. Another one. Incredibly, after three main games (GHIII, World Tour and 5), two band-specific spin-offs (Aerosmith and Metallica), three DS games (the On Tour trilogy) and a Greatest Hits disc, Band Hero marks the tenth Hero game on a Nintendo system in only two years. The immediate question that springs to mind then, is this: after nine games and a total of 464 tracks, does Band Hero - aimed at younger, pop-loving gamers - offer anything new?

Band Hero

Game-Focus
2 March 2014
