Excerpt: To 3D, or not to 3D? That was James Cameron's question. Ubisoft Montreal's answer, with James Cameron's Avatar: The Game on Wii (try saying that three times while swinging your hips on the Balance Board) was, predictably, "not to 3D". Instead, we've got the video game disease that is waggling. As long-suffering Wii-owners know, waggling is, most of the time, awful. And so it is here. Why do developers insist on forcing horrible waggling on us?
Ambitious but ultimately disappointing fantasy game.

Summary: Parents need to know that there is a lot of combat violence in Avatar : The Game but it's not graphic (no blood or gore) and the entire game is deeply rooted in science fiction fantasy. All of this takes place in the future, on an alien world, with or against a 10-foot, blue-skinned species. You can also shoot other indigenous creatures. But as far as shooters go, this one is on the milder side.
James Cameron's Avatar: The Game for Wii - An Alien Experience
31 July 2009
Excerpt: Concept: There's no way can I succinctly explain a story that's taken five years to gel. So, if you haven't caught up on James Cameron's epic, click here. Then sit back down, because apparently Avatar: The Game for the Wii will tells a whole new story. Why didn't Ubisoft take the path of least resistance? Because James Cameron's in charge, man! Madness you say? Why yes, mad genius.
Excerpt: First of all, I should say I haven’t seen the film. Yes, I know. I should crawl back under the particular rock that I’ve been under. I did intend to go and watch it, but a film like that you might as well see it in 3D. So I thought “right, a bunch of friends are going to see it anyways, I’ll go with them”. When it came to it, I couldn’t be bothered. Now, I’m made to feel like some idiot who didn’t watch “one of the greatest films of all-time” in 3D.
Pros: Lush, vibrant, and detailed environments, A subtle mix of game genres
Cons: Repetitive gameplay, Shoddy camera controls, Quite a short game, Frequent drops in frame-rate
Excerpt: As you read this, James Cameron is preparing to rain all over the boy Jesus' parade with his own vision of world salvation, albeit of the alien kind. The director of Terminator, Aliens and Titanic is hoping to obliterate box office tills with Avatar, his 3D, CGI, intergalactic saga that has been ten years in the making. You've probably seen the trailers. Lots of gnarly space marine types locking and loading and shouting 'hooah!' and chewing gum aggressively.
