All Star Karate

Family Friendly Gaming
2 February 2013
  • Excerpt: The first thing I should get out of the way is All Star Karate will not teach you karate. The characters do perform karate moves, and they look really good. What you the player do is not exactly the same thing. You can however get a nice little work out while playing this Wii game. You know it never gets old to say that about the Wii. Your teenage character sees ninjas chasing an old man. You get involved to help him, and he winds up teaching you.

All Star Karate (Wii) Review

3 January 2011

Control problems mar mediocre martial arts adventure.

Common Sense Media

  • Summary: Parents need to know that All Star Karate is an active Wii game that will require your kids to move around a bit while playing, but that it is entertainment and in no way an actual form of martial arts instruction. Its instructions are not always clear and the controls can feel glitchy at times.

All Star Karate Review

  • Conclusion: Creating a worthwhile karate or martial arts sim on the Wii would have been a great idea, but unfortunately, all you can expect from All Star Karate is a bunch of waggling of your hands and shaking of your head. It may be worth mentioning that this title does fall into the "budget" category (MSRP is just under $20), but this game's poor execution can't be excused at any price.

  • Excerpt: As the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him a duck. Turns out, you can't make a fighting game out of All Star Karate, either.

All Star Karate Review

  • Conclusion: The Short Version: All Star Karate may shine when it comes to technology such as Kinect, as this will hopefully give the game far more scope than the limitations placed by the Wiimotes. It offers sluggish and random controls which affect multiplayer and make the game more frustrating than fun.
  • Pros: Faintly charming, You’ll get some sweat going and some good content depth for those who persevere, Great for kids
  • Cons: Sluggish controls that render multiplayer unplayable, Weak storyline (unless you like that sort of thing), Picky timing issues

All Star Karate (Wii)

23 June 2010
