Summary: Bought this game remembering playing something similar years ago, however after 5 minutes taking the game back. Needless to say it is a frustratingly pointless game where one fights aliens with bad weapons. If you are looking at buying this realize there is good reason amazon only pays 50 cents to trade it in.
Definitely not as good as the previous incarnation in the arcades

Summary: I LOVED playing the original version of this game in the arcade, and I have the Nintendo 8-bit version, and when I saw this version for the Wii, I wanted to get it. But when I did, I discovered this game was a monstrosity. It was supposed to be an improvement, but instead it de-evolved in the other direction. I truly miss the days when you could pick up a health pack and it would be instantly added to your life bar.
Summary: I love my Wii more than all of my other things combined. Alien Syndrome made me rethink this statement. When I first bought this game I was so exited to go home and play it. The game description was very well done and would trick even the most hardcore gamers into getting this game. I soon realized that the game would make a better pizza cutter than a Wii game. It was seriously, the worst game I have ever played. I was truly disgusted.
Summary: This game is really bad. Im glad I could check it out for free b/c even if I rented it I would want my money back. First off the graphics are absolutly horrible. I mean I thought I was looking at a slightly better N64 game it was that bad. Then the controls are jusr awkward and clumsy. You can switch between ranged or melee combat and you are suppossed to swing the wiimote to do attacks. That would be ok if it wasnt for the second and a half delay from when you swing it.
Very simple in all areas meaning this one won't last long at all. Avoid altogether.

Excerpt: Straight away, some of you may recognise the name "Alien Syndrome" as the name of the arcade game released by Sega way back in 1987. It wasn't anything impressive, but saw itself ported to numerous consoles in the late 80's and updated in 2004 for the PS2 with better graphics and updated controls. "Alien Syndrome" for the Wii however is not the same game, but in fact a sequel of the same name. The question is; has it got better over time?
Excerpt: "...you arrive you encounter the alien threat and decide to stay and fight it. That's the plot, pretty standard stuff I'm sure you'll agree. As for the gameplay, "Alien Syndrome" is a top-down shooter where you have to blast your way through levels of aliens. It is just as straight forward as the plot in all honesty. However, there are numerous problems with the gameplay. Firstly, aliens will spawn everywhere and I am not exaggerating at all. For example, ...
Pros: Aiming to shoot works well
Cons: Bad graphics, awful gameplay and it wont last long at all
Summary: This game is so boring... You play with a top view of everything, I enjoy games that are viewed as if you are the player or even watching the player from in back of them but this game where you see everything as if you are an observer from the top...

Summary: Dont go near it - its rubbish and the review that states it has great graphics and gameplay is obviously a deluded crazy case. Take my advice and steer well clear - i wouldnt touch it with yours.
Don't waste your money. There are far better games on the Wii than this.

Summary: This is the worst game I have ever played on any system including the Sinclair Spectrum I played as a child! If I was not forced to buy this with my Wii I never ever would have bought it. It cannot claim even mediocracy in any department, playability, graphics etc.
