Summary: The item is not fit for purpose. If you think you can go away, and then if a burglary happened you can simply press playback and watch it....forget it! Nobody can get it to work, me included and I work in IT.
Summary: my TV-IP422W died - took me sometime to get RMA... with CSR/Tech Support TRENDnet only get run around...it a good device when it does works... but make sure - if you buy it save receipt invoice for warranty... as you may need it to get warranty...
Summary: I bought this camera to enable us to keep an eye on things when we're away. I am not a computer whiz by any means, but setup was straightforward and within 10 minutes it was up and running. I decided to bypass hookup to a dedicated computer, as I really didn't like the idea of something running while we're gone, plus with the lightning we have, the computer wouldn't stay running for long.
Summary: This thing really kind of sucks. I'm a Server Admin by trade and it took me several hours to get this to work decently. Here are my beefs: Support is horrible. I opened two tickets. One barely addressed my issue and the other was ignored Never got a response via email from them (emailed them twice) The quality of the image is alright, but not great They require you to manually update the firmware or risk having someone spy on your video feed Uses old compression methods...
Summary: I had 2 of these an they were horrible. The video detail was so poor it looked like everything was out of focus all the time, but the cam was in focus. I could not make out someone's face detail when they were 20" away from the cam. Compared to the same priced cam from Foscam, the Trendnet was simply garbage. Not to mention there were numerous other firmware issues like audio dropouts, etc.
Summary: First, if you're going to set a camera to look outside at night, through a window: I could not get the night vision cameras to work properly. The IR glares back into the glass and I can see only very limited areas. That I learned only through experience. My camera is working as described -- it's ok.
Summary: Not sure about this model but Trendnet cameras have been hacked all over the world and people are spying on those who use them! "A hacker discovered that thousands of household security cameras Trendnet brand could be seen on the Internet without requiring a password. There are about fifty thousand worldwide, including Argentina.
