Summary: Bought this to use with a laptop for Skype. Gooseneck is sturdy enough for camera to stay straight up behind the lifted top/screen while I walk around with the laptop. The video quality is very good (people on the other end of Skype comment that this is the best quality video they get from me, with this camera).

Summary: The camera hardware works as documented, you just need the driver which is on the cd. The software that comes with it is not worth loading. loads at startup, so it assumes you always want the camera available, but it can't even tell you have a built in camera also. i could not get the software to switch off the built in notebook camera and select the phillips gooseneck. fortunately, microsoft has built in software that will work and allow to select which camera to use.
Summary: I have owned numerous cams over the years and have not found a single one that is good. Its either driver problems, poor software or non-support of your equipment. All the cam's suffered from poor video quality (choppy an low resolution). I assume if you want a good cam you will have to pay about $200-$300. Here we are in 2011 and I have yet to see a reasonably priced good cam. The software included with this is terrible on Windows 7.
Excerpt: I bought Philips SPC611NC Portable Webcam only because I got it on a deal which cost only about twenty dollars. Since the retail price for this will come to fifty dollars I thought it a great deal and I am by and large satisfied with the purchase.
Summary: I was looking for a web cam easy to use and this is just the perfect product for me, it does not require additional cables or even software installation and works great with Skype, the reason why I needed a web cam. The video quality is not that good and the cable is not that easy to manipulate but in general I am happy with the product.
