Summary: This webcam works well with the Apple built-in camera that two of my kids use and I have good conversations and reception with them. However, I notice it doesn't work too well with the Logitec which another of my sons uses and there is frequent break-up of voice and picture. I wish the Philips had a wider lens so I could include someone else in my picture (as all my kids can do). I have to move back a good distance from the camera to make that happen.
Summary: This webcam offers a great picture. I can't speak much for the microphone because my cats thought it was a toy just for them and chewed right through the wire. This product would be a little better if it had adjustable angles or something that made it a little easier to position well, but as long as you have a way to sit it up at the right height and angle you'll be very satisfied with the quality of the picture for the price.
Summary: Vista users beware! DO NOT INSTALL bundled software! It will render your system unbootable. If you have Vista just plug the camera in and let Windows find the driver on Windows update. It works pretty good after that.
Summary: This webcam is pretty good. It offers a clear picture and is easy to use. It does come with a microphone that works fine, but it isn't attached to the camera itself. I have put it somewhere safe where even I can't find it. I would prefer one attached. That is why I gave it 4 stars. I am happy with my purchase and would buy it again. I have had it over a year and it is still working the same as when I bought it.
Excerpt: My mum bought this webcam years ago when she decided she wanted to use it to contact her sister in Australia via video. I'm pretty sure that at the time it was around £15 to buy (so the seller on amazon asking for £87.50 for a used one is taking the p**s a bit, just because he knows it's the only one on the site).
Pros: while not great the image quality is still on par with most modern webcams
Excerpt: Having been very dissapointed with two Trust webcams I though a Philips product would be much better. How wrong I was. The sensor is very noisy with lots of defective pixels. The worst thing is the focal length, its way too long. You have to put it quite a way back to get all your head in! For the money I though it would be better than VGA. The Trust webcams I bough for much less money were also VGA but they had bad noise and a huge number of dead pixels.
Cons: noise, focal length, fitting to a laptop is almost impossible .
Excerpt: The Philips SPC 200N PC Webcam, I only recommend it as a budget camera! The Camera's User guide is VERY easy to follow - only two pages of instruction in each of 8 languages! Installation takes minutes. Camera (about 4X6X8 cm and as light as a feather) plugs into a USB so does not require an extra power supply. It is very robust, but being so light it tends to be dragged to the side by the weight of its own wire! Flat base so cannot be mounted onto a laptop or speakers.
