Excerpt: I bought this specifically to use on a Mac and, although it doesn't have the control panel like you'd find on Windows, it works just fine. The mount is a little funky. The picture makes it look a bit like a C-clamp but that lower tongue is flexible. you basically use that upper lip and the tongue to wedge it onto your monitor. The tongue also has a 1/4-20 tripod mount in case you'd like to make a more steady mount.
Excerpt: I'm living and studying overseas and Skype and Zoom are a good way to keep in touch with my family and friends back home. This is why I've bought 4 Microsoft LifeCam Studio cams to use them (bought 2 of them 2 yrs ago from B&H, then I bought 2 from a seller on @). They are/were excellent when they've worked.
Summary: The camera and microphone work well and have great quality picture and sound to them. I paired this with a small tripod that fits on a desk, and it's been great for our office. We have used this camera for interviews and meetings in professional settings. The product has one major flaw: It doesn't play nice with USB 3.0. I experience what can only be described as static in both the audio and video port if I plug this device into a USB 3.0 slot.
Excerpt: I use this camera for daytime surveillance of my home driveway entrance so that anytime I'm on my computer I can see anyone who arrives. I leave it in 720 mode instead of 1080 so that I can leave it zoomed in.
Summary: Well, I think it is ridiculous that currently this LifeCam studio is not 100% compatible with windows 8.1. After installing the lastest 4.25 LifeCam software, I didn't find any exe file to run LifeCam software. Unlike its Win7 software in which I can record video, take picture and record sounds, currently in Win8.1, I have no access to this LifeCam at all! I can only use third party software to do those recording things using this LifeCam.
Summary: Camera works well, but not as good as I expected. This camera was rated pretty high so for the price, I'm happy with it. If I could buy this again..... I might try something else. The picture is clear, but I don't think it is 1080P HD. There was a grainy look and a little blurry. I have used this camera for posting videos online and for video chats. Like I said, for the price it works well, but fall short of my expectations.
Summary: Works good. I had a hard time installing this on Windows XP. I looked up instructions via Google on how to install on Windows XP. You have to keep installing past the warning messages. After a couple of trys and some driver upgrades I got video but no sound. Later I checked Skype help pages and installed the latest DirectX that Win XP will support. and make sure the video & audio drivers are up to date. Unplug the USB connector and check USB hub activity.
