Summary: I would not say it's excellent, but it does work better than my laptop's webcam, especially in dimmer light. The color is a little bit off, but this isn't bothersome. I think it's silly that the button on top of it only does a call for Windows Live Messenger and not Skype because this messenger service was purchased by Skype.
Summary: I bought it when compared to some others because it had the microsoft name behind it which, to me, hopefully means the quality control is better even though im sure it is made in some foreign country. It installed right away, no problems, no hitches and no problems. I am not sure how it would get five stars unless it brought me coffee. Works like it should and no glitches.
Summary: It worked alright. I had to fold up a post-it-note to level it on my Asus monitor: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00413PHEQ/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I used it with YouTube's My_Webcam feature to create audio announcements for my online high school students.
Summary: This webcam is very good, and shows decently clear images even in low fluorescent lighting. I use it only with Google Hangouts, so have not tried out the bundled software yet - but I expect that it will be neat too.
Summary: Make sure you realize that this is a webcam for a LAPTOP. I didn't realize that but for $12, I'm not going to return it. The cord for the camera is very short, so if you're not going to use it on a laptop, don't waste your money. The camera does work just fine as does the built-in mic. It's not the clearest, most amazing image quality - but for $12, what would you expect? This is a very good purchase if you're looking to just do simple webcam chatting or recording.
