Summary: Skype Certified ??? Windows 8 automatically detected and installed product but getting it to work with Skype was a day long pain in the ... Although the video works the small pip window that should show me what the recipient views is a black screen. It's sad that a generic laptop cam works flawlessly with Skype but a cam I spent over $30 on was a hassle to get up and running. Otherwise the quality of video and sound is what you would expect from a lower priced cam.
Summary: I've been using this camera for a couple months now. It's a decent buy for under $30 but it's not perfect. The image and sound quality are generally quite good but the auto focus is very temperamental. While video chatting, the image frequently goes in an out of focus when I move. Another feature that could use a better design is the mount.
Summary: I got this webcam because the price was reasonable & the resolution was 720p. What I found, though, is that that the auto focus from this webcam is a major headache. I found that you had to be really close so that your face fills most of the screen or far enough away that any background behind you was close to the depth you were sitting at - neither of these options work well for me.
Superb Color and Clarity, Poor Auto Focus Behavior

Summary: Simply put, the picture quality of the LifeCam HD-5000 is amazing, and despite losing out in terms of absolute resolution (720p is only ~0.9 MP) to some of the other webcams on the market, the HD-5000's sharp focus, low noise, excellent low-light performance, and life-like color produced superior results. Frankly, it is better than my older Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro, a newish Rosewill true 1.3MP webcam, and the several built-in webcams I've used over the years.
Great picture quality, but the auto-focus has a mind of its own.

Summary: While the picture-taking quality of this webcam is excellent, the auto-focus feature becomes very distracting after a short period of time... ...and you'll see why after you watch this video. Hope this helps!
Summary: Good image, but some trouble setting up use with Windows Live Messenger. I couldn't manage to figure out problem. No Phone tech support. Much aggravation. I wound up using it with Yahoo Messenger.
Summary: I bought this webcam because of the auto focus feature by the ads. But the one I am disappointed is this feature. When I was video chatting, the video kept on going clear to blurry and blurry to clear. I do not really know why it always changing the focus. And the speed of each period is long enough to disturb me like 5 secs. The HD quality is not bad but not excellent. In general, half of the time it is auto focusing and the other half is HD.
Summary: Decent camera with a good microphone. Unfortunately, the autofocus is a bit of a let-down, as unless you sit perfectly still during video chats, the picture is blurred because the camera is continually adjusting focus as you move about. Can't find a way to disable this in windows 8.

Summary: The graphic and video quality on this camera is very good and does not buffer or lag and keeps the video imagery in as real time as possible considering the price for this. This is excellent However the sound can sometimes ehco and is not as good as the video quality.
