Reviews and Problems with Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000

For the money, a good camera. For versatility and ease of use, not so good.

Summary: The image quality is quite good with this camera. What is lacking is the software, which I found to be quite non-intuitive to operate. For example, one of the reasons I got this cam was because it boasted 'motion sensing' which I took to mean that when used as a surveillance cam that it would either not turn on or not record unless there was movement in its field of view.
Summary: Bought without manual, box, etc. Had no problem setting up as windows 7 recognized it immediately and setup it up automatically. However, would not make a connection to call others. Gave an error message that could not be fixed, called tech support and they could not help and are still "reviewing" the error and trying to find a workaround. Now, good news, works fine with Google gmail video, works right out of the box with minimal adjustments.
Summary: This little cam is amazing. I takes a better, higher resolution image than my DV cam! Plus the color is spectacular. Perfect for HD youtube videos, Great MP photos and webcam chat like no other! I love it, the software is actually cool and useful too!, Unlike most add on junk you get on the CD with a webcam. Not just the best webcam I have owned. But the best video camera I have owned! BUY IT!
Summary: This purchase was supposed to be a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000. That is how it was advertised on ebay and that is the webcam that I was shopping for. However, the software only shows that it is the "Quickcam" Pro 9000. There is a difference in these two models (both in hardware and in price). There wasn't any markings on the webcam or the packaging to confirm which model it it. I have to wonder if I have been duped.
Summary: After receiving a VERY used Web cam when sold a "nearly new" unit, I find it to be less powerful than advertised by Logitech. There's a problem with colors changing light to dark and back; the video does not keep up with the speed of the connection...seems to stutter and stop briefly - then jump back. After I bought the unit for about $55 - Best Buy put them on sale for $59; salesperson said they weren't going to be carrying them any longer. I know why...
"Nice, but not compatible with my Audigy soundcard"

Pros: I've used several webcams, and this one is the best as far as picture goes, and the ability to track you while you move around in range of this camera.
Cons: Tthe recording mike volume adjustment would not stay where I adjusted it because my sound card overruled its' settings. Even their technician was not able to correct the problem. I did not have this problem with the Microsoft cameras.
