Slow

Cimmay R., Newegg
1 September 2015
  • Summary: This model is simply too old, obsolete. I had a newer Logitech cam and the chips were much faster, sorry I gave it away. Difficult to find replacement if the release date is not known.
  • Pros: Can't find anything good about it.
  • Cons: Slow motion, poor image quality. Software is worthless.

The video part works fine, but the sound does not

Perpetual Reader, Amazon
30 June 2015
  • Summary: The video part works fine, but the sound does not. Therefore it needs an additional Microphone-Earphone. For the price I expected the features listed to be working.

Cannot Get it to Work on Win7

Jordan M., Newegg
22 July 2012
  • Pros: Honestly I can't speak much to the pros as my primary computer runs Win7, although I'm sure it is a decent webcam when it works.
  • Cons: I originally got this cam for a WinXP machine, for which it worked fine but that machine went out of use shortly afterwards and so I transferred it to my personal machine. I've tried every workaround and trick I could find and I just cannot get this thing to work on my Win7 machine. I read that o...

Continual Problems With Webcam

David L., Newegg
3 July 2012
  • Pros: Good picture quality and decent sound, when it works.
  • Cons: The sound would frequently distort to an incomprehensible, high-pitched, dolphin-like sqeaking. This would happen at random through multiple different applications and logitech was unable to solve the issue.

Annoying Software and Survey

Joseph E., Newegg
18 December 2011
  • Pros: Works fairly well, autofocus is decent.
  • Cons: Driver install repeatedly errored when trying to install on Windows 7 64-bit. Once installed, an extremely annoying popup makes you take a survey whenever you install this, regardless of whether you've already taken the survey or not. I registered when I bought it, but I format my computer on a r...

Too many driver conflicts

Peter A., Newegg
19 November 2011
  • Summary: Avoid if you use WD or Maxtor backup external disks.
  • Pros: I have 2 webcams. On one computer with relatively few devices, webcam works fine. On the second, Logitech driver problems have led to great difficulty, see cons.
  • Cons: In some configurations, conflicts with other drivers, such as Western Digital Smartware, giving high system instability and numerous BSOD. Different versions of Logitech driver software give different problems. Uninstall of Logitech drivers failed to bring the system back to working order, and ev...

Great hardware, buggy software

Aengus L., Newegg
12 November 2011
  • Summary: I've been very happy with my Logitech Quickcam Ultra, so when I decided to buy a good webcam for my parents I bought the Quickcam Pro 9000, and got one for myself too. The hardware is excellent, but to have 3 different machine's start crashing shortly after installing the applications shipped with...
  • Pros: Good picture quality, good microphone.
  • Cons: The software for Windows 7 sucks. I've installed 2 of these cameras on 3 different Windows 7 machines, and all 3 of them became unstable after I installed the Logitech applications. Even when the machines stayed up, webchats crashed, or worked inconsistently. Luckily, uninstalling the Logitech ap...

Disappointed with Advertised Features

Nicholas G., Newegg
15 September 2011
  • Summary: 30fps for 480p and less 15fps for 720p 10fps any higher
  • Pros: Microphone is adequate. I won't complain about the sensitivity or how it it gets super raspy easily. It works but it isn't something to write home about. Drivers are fairly intuitive and you can control pretty much every aspect of the sound and video. For the price, good stuff.
  • Cons: Be warned, 30fps is for only certain resolution modes. The max fps I can get out of this thing is 15fps when in 1280x720. When I go down to 480p, I can get to 30fps but the voice-to-video lag is still there. I wanted to use this for an entry level way to podcast and this thing suffers from very d...

Keeps getting worse

Josh E., Newegg
10 June 2011
  • Pros: Worked well previous to Windows Vista, then started getting flaky. I've bought three because it used to work so well and was such good quality.
  • Cons: Barely works now. It shuts off after up to ~15 seconds of use in Skype; usually just shows a black screen. I can't re-start using it when that happens, I have to unplug and re-plug it in. Sometimes it works great, however. It's completely hit-and-miss, I can't figure out any sort of pattern. Logi...
