Great webcam for planetary/lunar astrophotography!
24 January 2012
Summary: I purchased this webcam for planetary/lunar astrophotography.Compared to other cameras for this, the webcam was extremely inexpensive. The webcam was very easy to attach to the adapter. The drivers and software loaded up with no problem whatsoever and I was up and running. The software that came with it is truly great, very easy to use,and gives me a large number of adjustable controls to get the best results. The webcam itself is very light so there is no balance issues with...
Summary: This is a great webcam. I picked these two up for some backyard astrophotography, and after adding a an inexpensive adapter, had some great lunar, and planetary images, and video. They will work in Win7 and the astro community has great free resources and advice on how to get the most out of these webcams
Summary: I bought this web cam to replace a Microsoft and after using it for a couple times I came back to my old one, the picture was not better. I even increase the internet speed but it didn't help.
Summary: I bought this to use with Skype. It is working great. My friends say the sound and picture quality on their end is great...I know it is great on my end. Very easy set up and install too. I recommend this product.
Summary: LOVE; Super clear, nice zoom, easy to use. The new base mounts on the flat panels VERY nicely. It is very stable there too. The Package of software is very complete. Offers things you think you will NEVER use and you'll begin to use them in a few weeks. Don't Love; The ONE problem is that the software available on line is set up for 64 Bit computers! Tried several times to download...even tried to use the 32 bit for model 5000. No dice.
Summary: Good webcamera. It has a CCD sensor for capturing images (the same type used in digital cameras), which provides better quality than the CMOS ones. I was able to make it working in Linux without much work (I'm running ubuntu 9.10 karmic 64 bit) and I just had to load the module for the phillips webcam with "modprobe pwc" using the shell console.
Summary: I like that there is a telescope eyepiece adapter available for this web cam, I would like to see more adjustments available in the capture software since I use this for astronomy. Overall a good buy for the price!
