Excerpt: Well, I’m not really good in computers and all this stuff, but I can distinguish good webcam from bad webcam. I will explain why! One day I had to go to a long business trip to Europe, and we decided with my husband to chat through webcam. We both bought at first Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX for about 50 dollars. But the quality of image was not good at all. And we decided to buy Logitech QuickCam Orbit MP. It is perfect.
Summary: Had some difficulty installing the software on Windows Vista x64, but with the help of Logitech got it going (turns out it takes a LONG time to load the software - don't interrupt the installation). Love the motorized pan and tilt!!

Summary: I have about three different logitech webcams, one for my laptop, it is the small clip on one, and the other two are for my desktop computers at work and home. Why three, because I got them all at a good price. The orbit can just sit on the desk, so as to not be in the way on the lcd screen. I purchased this one without software becaused I already had some from my other webcams.
Excellent webcam - no video lag - superior clarity

Summary: I tried both Microsoft's LifeCam VX-3000 and VX-6000. Had 'em both home and ran trials with my Intel Pentium D Dual Core 3.00GHz CPU with 2 gigs of ram and, with both of those, the video lagged the audio (distractingly so). Spent the better part of an hour on the phone with a friendly Microsoft customer service rep one evening (got through on their toll free line)and he pointed me to new software for the VX-6000.
