Functional, has manual focus, achieves 20X close-up magnification
27 August 2014
Summary: Purchased for machine shop for use as webcam magnifier. With manual focus, the close-up focused camera provides 20X magnification. At 1-inch distance I could safely monitor the drill bit positioning and drilling process. Any manual-focus webcam is capable of 20X and more magnification.
Summary: The driver it uses is called UVC. Framerate is better in decently lighted situations
Pros: Worked both with my Windows and Ubuntu systems. I currently use Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit. I have tested it on Ubuntu 8.04, 8.10, 9.04, and 9.10 as well. (Have upgraded over the years). The odd thing was the switch from 8.04 to 8.10. Ubuntu switched from the 2.6.24-x kernels to 2.6.25+ which drop suppo...
Cons: Has no physical lens cover / audio not the best
Summary: I got this as a gift for my Dad, so this is based on the handful of times I got to use it while I was staying at his house. If I think about it I'll ask my Dad what he thinks after he's had a chance to use it.
Pros: We used this to talk to my cousin in Iraq via Skype, and it worked well. The picture look great on my Dad's laptop (which was running Windows XP). I think any picture issues across Skype were because of internet issues in Iraq. The wide angle lens let most if not all of our family (20+ people) in...
Summary: I didn't test some of higher resolutions since I only plan on using this for video conferencing.
Pros: Small, portable, seemingly decently built. It is a nice webcam. It works with both Gentoo Linux (kernel 2.6.30) and Windows XP. Works well with Skype for Windows 4.x and Skype for Linux 2.x despite what other reviews have said.
Cons: Would be nice to to have a physical lens cover
Summary: An absolutely perfect adjunct to my Dell Mini9. Everything works perfectly. It is the fourth logitech device that I have in my inventory. None has disappointed me in the slightest. I would recommend without hesitation and would certainly purchase again.
Summary: Really clear image and voice. Smaller than I thought it would be, but clips securely to the top of my laptop. Software is too unwieldy and slows my computer. When I have time, I'll uninstall it and just reinstall the driver, like another reviewer suggested.
Summary: This camera is absolutely outstanding. The resolution is great, it is fast, and associated software and drivers are outstanding by all measures. Despite being cheap, it bears the Logitech quality. Just make sure before buying that it would fit your laptop, since it won't stand freely by itself.
