Summary: I'm sure like others that have found out, the quest for a good webcam can lead to a lot of dead ends. One that kept popping up on my radar screen is the mid level Logitech C600. The thing that appealed to me primarily were the simple features. With a two tone black finish, the glass lens C600 is packed with an attached 6' USB cable, software CD, instructions and a two year product warranty.
Summary: I enjoyed using a since early 2006 and was happy with it's performance. I don't use a webcam daily, but often use it to chat and catch up with family and friends. Since my webcam was older and the opportunity presented itself, I chose to upgrade to the newer version. These days, webcams are a standard piece of hardware. Compared the QuickCam Pro 5000, the C600 shows little differences on the surface. The major visible difference relates to the privacy shade.
Summary: As other reviewers have said, despite being designated a Windows-only model it works on Mac (as it's UVC compatible) with only two exceptions (hence the 4/5 rating). First, you won't get any of the special features like effects or RightLight. But after reading more into it, RightLight is simply a post-processing filter, meaning the camera itself isn't doing anything special. The software is just reading the image and adjusting it as best it can.
Summary: I bought this webcam nearly a month ago or so and I really enjoy it. They clearity is very good and it doesn't lag. The song is very crisp and its very easy to set up. Granted, its better if you manually adjust the webcam's functions according to your computer. It is a ver Logitech 2 MP HD Webcam C600 with Built-in Microphone y good webcam for the price and I would recommend it to anyone.
Summary: The quality of the video for this unit is very good. When I skyped with friends/family, they commented how good the quality of the video on their end. The unit worked very well with the Mac 10.6.2. Mac's Photobooth worked fine with this unit, my kids have fun playing with the unit using Photobooth.
Summary: I haven't used this camera extensively yet, but so far it works great. I'm using it on Windows 7. Installation was a snap...just plug it in and go. I only use it with Skype, so I didn't install any of the software that came with the camera other than the driver. Picture quality is excellent, even in moderate lighting. The base works pretty good for mounting the camera on top of my monitor.
