Excerpt: I bought to use as a webcam. The first thing bad was the software supplied by Logitech would not install because it was no longer being used. No replacement software was offered. I am trying other software in hopes of using as webcam. If not, it is worthless. Trying to reach technical help is difficult. I never did get any help. Fortunately I find ways to do it myself.
with Windows XP computer caused critical shut down
13 December 2012
Summary: I had to return the item. I bought it for my sister so we can Skype each other between California and Oklahoma. She installed the cam and the picture quality was good, but whenever she tried to play back or connect with me on Skype, her computer went to a critical shut down and a blue screen. I have sent her another model and am waiting to hear if it works for her.
Summary: Note: My rating reflects Logitech's customer service - not product performance. I ordered this model because some of the reviews indicated it worked fine on a Mac - in retrospect, I don't know why I didn't order the C615 instead - because it is advertised to be Mac-compatible. I don't doubt that the C525 worked on someone's Mac - but it won't work on my recent model Mac-Mini. I accept responsibility for not ordering the right product.
Excerpt: I am disappointed with this product as I have purchased Logitech webcams before. The built-in microphone was not working so my chat buddy could not hear me. I had to pull the USB connection at one point because there was no video. But when it did work the video was very clear, sort of high-quality except for the built-in microphone.
Summary: I'm really disappointed that this webcam didn't work well with my windows laptop. The installation was a breeze and the cam itself is so co small and compact. You can easily throw this in a bag and it travels well. The fact that you can turn it 360 and it shoots in HD is awesome but it didn't work with my machine. I installed the software filmed my first video and just as I was about to save my laptop froze and I mean nothing on task manager was going to fix it.
Loss of features over the c510, which they lied about being SkypeHD compatible
John Smith, Amazon
5 July 2011
Summary: Beware of a loss of features between this model and the c510, which it is replacing. If you don't believe me, you can go to the Logitech website and do a comparison between the c510 webcam and the c525. I also own a c510, and Logitech seems to now have gone back on the "features" the c510 was capable of. They used to say the c510 was SkypeHD compatible, but apparently, it's now not. My box says the c510 is.
Summary: When I got the webcam I plugged it in and the set up was easy, but then again it stopped working after about 30 seconds after this I uninstalled and tried 5 more times and numerous times on other computers in the house it didn't work it froze. I also didn't receive all the standard documentation and software CD so was not very pleased with the overall product. However I sent it back and got my money back the next day.
Summary: Bought this webcam on black friday.. before that I was using the C210 and C310. Except for the Auto Focus features with the C525 it has nothing better.. way too expensive and the 360 rotation is limited because of the wire at the back so no point there. Picture quality is not much better than C210 or C310... it seems darker for some reason. Overall it's a good product but it's not worth the price.
Summary: for a new webcam i chose logitech because i thought it would be a very good quality brand. When i was browsing this one caught my eye because of the "HD" in the name; i was looking for a high quality webcam to use on skype. At first i was very happy with the product. It came in a smart looking box and the set up was easy and quick. But when i started using it on skype the graphics were awful and pixelated not a 8mp camera as promised on the box.
