Summary: This is the ONLY webcam that is reasonably priced that will work (for me) with Windows 8.1! I am a college student and the school sent me one, it didn't work, bought a cheaper model of logiteck webcam and it didn't work either. The ONLY problem I can't solve yet is that when I want to make a voice recording ONLY (not using video) I can't save it anywhere other than where it is when I make the recording!
Excerpt: Bought two of these as simple security cameras. Just plugged them in and they were picked up by VLC. Video is only 640x480, but sound does work. Refresh rate is decent and colour quality is good, even in relatively low light. Works on linux (Ubuntu 14.04 x86_64).
Summary: Logitech has built dependable electronics gear for many years, so I wasn't worried that my "cheapo" web-cam would do the job, but I was amazed at the quality of the video it transmits, and especially the built-in microphone which screens out background noise, even when sitting right next to your speakers. Works great with Skype. I could not be more pleased.
Summary: If you are looking for an affordable camera to use for Skyping look no further. The microphone works great, and the video quality is great for the low price (depending on your internet connection, of course).
