Summary: It does have IR LEDs that light up (verified using phone camera), but that's all I can say about it. System loads drivers for it, and camera is detected and supposedly usable as a DirectShow device, but nothing can actually connect to it to get an image (even the included software). It's likely that this unit is just defective, but it's not worth the time and effort it would take to return it for a replacement.
Summary: I was making a makeshift wireless baby monitor with an old laptop, Skype and this webcam. During the day, it works great! But the Night Vision LEDs are pretty weak. Your subject has to be within a foot and a half to be visible at night. Luckily I have an old baby monitor with strong Infrared LEDs to use as an alternate light source. Once I got properly lighting, the camera worked fine at night.
Summary: Im using mine for a window secrity camera on my space laptop... I leave it running for 24/7 been about 8 months now I think. Night vision works but I used black tape to cover them since it was reflecting off the window but thats ok, cant beat $10!
