Summary: More features than I expected from a cheap cam, good thing you don't need the lights unless it's real dark because they bother your eyes & the blue light makes you look ghastly
Pros: Installed fine on Win 7 & XP, doesn't use too much CPU, good picture, mic works, has special effects, zoom, image sharing, still shots in single or burst mode, creates animated gif from burst mode, easy on-screen controls, clips to laptop well or stands on desk, peel&stick on base to stick it on ...
Cons: "Hercules Webcam Station Evolution SE" (control program) didn't install from CD - had to download, lots of motion blur, lights are bluish and glaring, focus ring is smooth not knurled
Summary: Evolution Station Software only needed for Video additional functionality. Latest adds a few things but 126.96.36.199 works even under Win7/sp1
Pros: Native Support by Linux - V4L device, no driver needed. Works well under XP and Looks good in Vista and Win7 pre-SP1. Useable under MS/Yahoo/AIM Messengers and Skype 5 in Windows with the driver only
Cons: Need to update the drivers for Win7/SP1 (latest version is 188.8.131.52).
Summary: The camera aspect of this webcam is great. The quality of the picture is good, and the LED's for night vision is a neat addition, although they are quite bright to look at. Where this webcam fails is the clip that is used to mount to the top of the monitor.
Summary: Jan/4/2015 This is an EXCELLENT camera! The clamp is limited and fragile, but the resolution of the camera often draws excellent feedback from whomever views it. The clamp may not properly grasp the edge of your monitor if it is too thick, but will very likely fit the edge of your laptop.
Summary: The picture is a bit grainy sometimes, and the LED light gets annoying, especially for someone like me who gets migraines easily. Aside from that I've had no problems with it functioning and being able to angle it is nice.
Summary: The video quality is poor, the headset isn't great, but it does the job. This really is one of those things that you get what you pay for. If you want really good quality then your going to have to pay a lot more.
Summary: I replaced my Microsoft Lifecam vx-6000 with the Hercules Deluxe Optical Glass Webcam. Better quality I think. However, I could not install software that came with the webcam; but went to their website and installed easily. Love it.
