Summary: My friend uses this to video chat through Google Hangouts. Terrible Frames per Second, nowhere near HD quality even when nothing is moving on screen. It's ok for a sale when it was $10, but nothing more.
Summary: The resolution of this cam is not very high. I have two, and it works well enough with an Ubuntu Linux box and a Windows 7 machine. All my software seems to recognize the cam, which is more than I can say for some other webcams out there. You have to focus the thing by turning the ring, out of the box the image on both was incredibly fuzzy. A minimal webcam for a minimal price.
Summary: Well don't let the HD on the tittle fool you the HD stands for Hercules Dualpix not High Def so if your looking for a Hi-Def cam don't buy this one but on the other hand if your looking for a cheap cam that has a real good picture then this one is top of the line, don't get me wrong I love this cam and will keep it as part of my arsenal because I do a Web-TV show and can use some good cams for fixed positions but I am still going to have to buy an Hi-Def cam.
Summary: I was looking for compatibility with Linux OS (Ubuntu in particular) and I'm satisfied. This camera conforms to the USB 2.0 Video Class (UVC) interface standard and that seems to be supported by most operating systems. I had no trouble getting Ubuntu 8.04 through 10.04 to recognize the camera. Sadly, the video quality is at best, half that of other similarly priced cameras that I own.
Summary: Bought this camera to provide another view from my iMac and while the Mac recognizes the camera, it is not accessible in some non-Apple chat programs. No drivers from the manufacturer for the Mac that I could find to fix the problem. Not a great picture but you get what you pay for.
Summary: After 4 mos of using item, turned it on one day and there are lined areas different shades of me on the screen - so basically it looks like the top is clear and the middle with another shade of color and the bottom with a darker shade. This item was never dropped (I am the only one using it at home) .... it was nice and clear the first time i used it ... I am kinda sad I'm returning it ....
Summary: You get what you pay for. I needed an webcam to do a project on my mac and after doing some research it appears that webcams need to be UVC compatible in order to work with macs. Most webcams do not advertise that they are compatible with macs so finding one is not all that easy. (Check [...] and search on UVC) Anyways, the image quality with this webcam is rather poor and it does not work well in low light conditions.
Summary: I purchased this webcam for my lap top to use with Gmail and Skype. The camera is steady and a breeze to set up and use. It feels adequately secure when attached to my lap top. The picture transmits in real time and is constantly streaming. However the video quality is somewhat grainy, but that is what you get with a camera of this megapixel. I also notice that colors are not as vibrant.. they are a little washed out.
