Summary: It's been said already, you get what you pay for here. I abandoned using this cam in OSX 10.6 because it would randomly stop working on any given day and became more trouble than the initial savings was worth. If you plan to use a webcam frequently for business meetings, don't waste your time and your partner's time messing with this camera. It will work, and then it won't, and at that point you might as well spend $20 more and get a more solid camera.
Summary: I needed to get Skype up and running between two computers, and didn't want to invest a lot initially on cameras. Based partly on reviews, I bought two Genius cameras, and they have done the job. Sound is very good. Video is just okay; motion can be quite blurred at time. As reviewers often observe, for the price, they do the job.
Summary: Despite the "Linux Compatable" claim, this webcam doesn't work out of the box with Kernel 2.6.32. Maybe with some fettling I can make this work with my Linux boxes. Tested with Kubuntu, CrunchBang, and Knoppix. The BIOS sees it as a "mouse device". Works with Vista 64. Not worth the $14 I paid for it. There are abundant Internet postings about problems making this webam work on Linux (and no solutions that I can find).
Summary: Great Little Product....The microphone I consider as the most important feature..I tested it twenty (20)feet away and it was perfect...The camera feature is OK..It does not seem to handle excessive light very well...But all things considered, it is excellent value for the money....
Summary: I use Windows 7, 64-bit. It really is true plug & play. Built-in mic works with the USB, no need to plug a cable into the mic jack. Just remember to change the mic setting in Skype so it works correctly. I was not familiar with the brand, but thought I would take a chance since the price was right. Works great!
Summary: My built-in camera on my MacBook stopped working, so I thought I'd give this a shot since it was cheap and I only need a webcam once a month to chat with family. It states it works with Macs, but it doesn't -- at least not easily. I operate on Mac OS 10.6.6. A MacBook will recognize that there's a camera plugged in, but you can't actually use it right out of the box. I searched for drivers to get this thing working on my MacBook, but without luck.
Summary: Decent webcam for a decent price. Requires no drivers, so will across different OSes with no issues. It also has an inbuilt mic (I haven't tested that yet). A safer buy than the $7 cams which may have driver issues.
