Summary: I expected more from Creative. I bought this to Skype with my daughter at college. Not only was the quality of video less than expected, but the entire device died after used only four times. The return policy expired on it several months ago, so I am stuck without a webcam. Very disappointing.
Summary: Tried to install on a Windows 7 computer but windows was unable to locate a driver. No drivers are available from the Creative Labs website for Windows 7 as the product is discontinued. Drivers are for Windows XP and older only.
Summary: This cam doesn't have too bad of a grainy effect like other cams. I have cable modem, yet when broadcasting through Yahoo messenger, it's slow and choppy, even when running "super cam mode". I have a hard time controlling the brightness/darkness. It's a battle...sunlight is too bright, lamps are too dark. I need to turn my ceiling light as well as a lamp on to allow enough light. I have to pull my shades at least halfway or I look like I'm glowing.
Summary: this camera works very well and have a lot of great features, also it include microphone and auricular for voip. the only thing is that for 640x480 does not give 30fps (just 15fps), just for resolutions equal or bellow 320x240 give 30fps capability, however is reasonable because of the price. Other thing that I was amazed is that it works pretty well on my XP virtual machine running on vista, I will try to run it on my virtual box for ubuntu 9.04.
Summary: I love the picture quality of CL's WebCam Live, but it designed to sit on a flat surface only, it seems. Putting it on my desk would leave too great of an angle between the lens and its object, so it is sitting on top of a pc speaker, which gives it more height. However, there is no way to steady it, so continual adjustment to keep the camera as still and as leveled as I need it is necessary.
Summary: I plugged it into my Ubuntu 8.10 system and it worked flawlessly and immediately without the installation of any drivers or other nonsense. For anyone looking for an inexpensive webcam for use on a Linux system this is an excellent choice. I haven't tried it on a Windows system.
Summary: This camera produces unpredictable results under Vista. Sadly, they are the type you can spend much time diagnosing and attributing to something you may have done incorrectly, e.g. loading the wrong driver, not having settings for a video application specified correctly, etc. Creative Support provides a generic response that says "if you go to...you will find a Vista driver..." (beta since Oct 2007.
