Summary: I bought this camera to monitor my dog's actions when I'm at work. I don't need the picture quality to be great, as long as I can see what she's doing, so that was not important to me. The best part about this webcam is the software that came with it. It has various modes... the one I was most interested in was the motion detection mode that will send an email to alert you and also broadcast a video over Yahoo Messenger.
Summary: I read a lot of reviews about different webcams and finally decided on this one. I have had it for a little over a week and, so far, it seems to be working fine. The software installed on my XP system without problems and it works seamlessly with Skype. The included earphone / mic is a little uncomfortable and the mic is a bit hard to position, but it works fine for now. I will most likely replace it with a full headset with an attached mic in the near future.
Summary: This is the first webcam I have owned so I cannot make any comparisons. It is a very convenient and capable product, sits securely on my monitor, and provides a sharp clear picture. It is definitely good value for money.
Summary: Summary: I now have several of these web cameras and find them to be very capable. I'm currently using mine on an HP laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate. My laptop has a built-in webcam, but as with most built-in laptop webcams, the quality stinks. The Creative WebCam Instant is a HUGE step up from that. Most webcams need good lighting to work well, this one is no exception. In other words, use it in a well lit room for best results.
