Creative Live! Cam Optia AF

PC Magazine
20 September 2008
  • Conclusion: Though the Live! Cam Optia AF isn't the image-quality champ, it scores with its fun, practical software bundle. It's the one webcam equipped for more than just videoconferencing.
  • Pros: 2-megapixel sensor. Lens rotates to let you shoot what's in front of you, not just you. Fun, diverse selection of bundled software.
  • Cons: Slow, annoying autofocus. Face-tracking feature barely works. So-so image quality.

Cowboy Frank
5 February 2008
  • Excerpt: The glass lens is sharper than the cheaper plastic lenses. While it doesn't come up to the sharpness of the Logitech Zeiss lenses, it is a good step forward for Creative. The auto focus is a bit flakey at times. It seems to not be quite as sharp as the Optia Pro despite having a larger image sensor.
  • Pros: Automatic Focus, Sits well on monitor or desktop, No special drivers needed
  • Cons: Creative Console app didn't find camera

Everything USB
18 November 2007
  • Summary: Unfortunately, the webcam's smart external design, intuitive software package and cool secondary features don't make up for the problems with audio/video sync in recordings.
  • Pros: Durable design, Remote monitoring, motion capture & time lapse, Intuitive control center software design, Smart customization fixes almost every problem, Face tracking and animations work well
  • Cons: Remote monitoring doesn't work with every FTP server, Video quality lags behind other webcams, Auto focus and face tracking struggle to adjust when facing bright lights, Audio and video don't sync up properly, Noise reduction makes audio sound thin

Creative Live!Cam Optia AF review

9 April 2009
  • Excerpt: If you can put aside Creative’s issue with mid-word punctuation, the Creative Live!Cam Optia AF is well worth a look as your webcam of choice. Just don’t make any dalek falling over jokes.
  • Pros: The Creative Live!Cam Optia AF comes into its own as a surveillance webcam. You can twist it 270 degrees to point it at just about anything, and then leave it to take stills at intervals you set, or when motion in its sight sets it off. You can catch all the action from anywhere with internet access, so it’s a great way to keep an eye on your food at your desk when you nip out for a smoke. Or even capture a plant growing if, you know, that’s what you’re in to.
  • Cons: The Creative Live!Cam Optia AF may have a 2.0-megapixel squished inside, but that doesn’t mean it’s as good as Logitech’s offerings with the same specs. In comparison, it struggles in low light, but at least with a lamp on your problems are solved. There’s no getting round the messy bundle of software provided though, which is more hassle than it’s worth to install. Better off just sticking with Skype plug and play access, unless you want to turn the Creative Live!Cam...

Creative Live! Cam Optia AF review

15 February 2008
  • Excerpt: Revealing our Best Buy on the first page might spoil the suspense, but you may as well know the standard to aim for. Creative bill the Optia AF as the ideal webcam for just about everything, and they're not wrong. It produced the sharpest and best looking video; audio was crystal clear; and the autofocus kept track of our most fidgety subject (a four-year-old).

Expert Review

20 October 2014
  • Summary: Creative Live!

  • Cons: Brak przycisku do szybkiego wykonywania zdjęć, Wysoka cena

16 September 2009
  • Conclusion: Pöydällä jalusta toimii paremmin. Kamera kääntyy vain pystysuunnassa ja käännettäessä linssi taakse, kuva kääntyy automaattisesti oikein päin. Alas käännettynä kamera sammuttaa kuvan ja näyttää tietosuojalogoa. Kameran mukana tuleva ohjelmi ...
  • Pros: Hyvä pöytäjalusta, Kohtuullinen valkotasapainon säätö, Kuvan terävyys, Erilliset kuulokkeet
  • Cons: Sinertävyys keinovalossa
