Decent camera, bad software.
19 December 2012
Summary: By Rawim I really used to like Creative brand products. They made good hardware, and had good software to help you use it. But there software is just a hassle now and lack so many of the features that newer products have. That camera itself is pretty good.
Summary: This was easy enough to set up, but the image quality is not what I`d call HD; more like standard definition. On an old TV. I can`t exactly guarantee there are better webcams out there because I haven`t tried enough, but there must be, surely!
Summary: This seems outdated. The security software it comes with nolonger works as that company appears to have gone bust. I'll need to try and find a more open source solution for this aspect of its use. Usb cabel is very short. I have added it to a usb extension. However the pic quality is not that great.
Summary: This is a decent all-round webcam. The design is good, the software works fine, in fact I have no complaints apart from a big one; the image quality isn't good enough. The resolution is fine, it's the performance under indoor lighting (Which is 90% of what people use webcams for) that isn't good...
Summary: Firstly, the supplied software is fairly easy to load. I am no expert on webcams, but the image quality is very good, except in lower light conditions when things deteriorate significantly. The sound quality seems fine.
Summary: I'm usually very pleased with Creative products but felt slightly let-down with this one. This is by no means a poor HD webcam (although 1080p will eventually become the norm surely) and it performs generally very well in fair-to-good light conditions.
Summary: It is a nicely styled webcam, not too intrusive, well made and relatively easy to use once the software has been loaded. However, what it looks like is not as important as how it performs. Unfortunately it falls at this hurdle.
Summary: Perhaps if I hadn't have already tried out the Logitech webcams currently on offer, this Creative cam would have been a contender for regular use. As it is, this seems a little underpowered when compared to most of the current batch of HD cameras.
Summary: Most of the other reviews cover what I'd say. It's a good piece of kit, but feels a little outdated already being only 720 whereas most people are looking at 1080. The cable is rather short, designed for a laptop/notebook rather than a desktop.
