Summary: Works well enough as a basic webcam but the quality is severely lacking. I was expecting an upgrade from the camera built into my 2009 27" iMac and was sorely disappointed. It was a massive step down.
Cons: Didn't look as clear as I thought it would. 720p is HD, but the video I get with it looks a lot like SD to me. All the settings are adjusted to highest quality and it's stilly blurry and fuzzy. I just needed something to Skype on a home entertainment PC so it will suffice.
Excerpt: The Creative Labs Cam Chat HD is a compact camera that attaches to my 27" NEC monitor which allows me to position the image as necessary for proper viewing. My monitor is color calibrated monthly so it is easy to determine the accuracy of the colors presented in the camera.
Summary: For the Mac: It's relatively inexpensive, but definitely does not deliver a 720p picture. Plug and chat worked fine after adjusting the audio input. On FaceTime, you have to go to the "video" tab at the top of the page and select the camera microphone for the audio to work properly.
Excerpt: Needed to be able to point the camera at different directions without turning the laptop around. This camera helps with that. Installation comes down to pluging it in. Also you'll need to go into the laptop settings to tell the computer to use this camera as opposed to the built-in camera.
Summary: Works well enough for a web cam. Not the clearest picture in the world but for the price it is a decent camera. I'm using it under Mint Linux so I guess that means it doesn't have any Microsoft dependencies....another plus in my book.
