Summary: This camera is built like a tank. It has excellent quality video. My MacMini installed the driver and some nice software, and the little camera works flawlessly with Yahoo messenger. I bought the little camera brand new in non original packaging for $42.00 bucks shipped and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Apple got it right with this little USB Webcam. Just plug it in and start using it within a minute or two right out of the box.
No pain way to add iSight to your firewire capable Mac
26 September 2013
Summary: Works great with any Mac via Firewire on 10.8.5. I needed a webcam for the Mac Pro. There are not many good options for webcam with integrated microphone that work with all OSX applications. This works period. Large optics make this a great little camera as long as there is reasonable levels of light. You will need a firewire adapter dongle with modern Mac computers since they use a smaller firewire port.
Summary: I really like the iSight. You need a Firewire 400 port or an adapter if you only have Firewire 800. The package includes 3 types of camera mounts. Setup is very simple - the camera features automatic focus plus a noise suppression microphone using just one cable for power, audio and video. Needs a DSL or faster Internet connection. Compatible with my late 2009 Mac Mini running Mac OS X 10.8 and many other models and older OS X systems.
Summary: This camera has many things that make it worth the consideration to buy. It feels sturdy upon holding, and has actually fallen off of a low shelf on to my desk with no damage or marks. I appreciate the hardware version of turning off the camera, as I do see why people might like that better. You can simply twist the aperture shut, and not worry about any security threats for example.
Summary: I didn't really buy this product out of necessity, but just because if its rarity and short production period. Nonetheless it's a great camera and can always be a backup in case your built-in iSight doesn't work or if you need a good microphone and don't feel like spending the money on a new one.
Verify all the mounts are included and proper cable adapters before bidding
8 July 2013
Summary: I purchased two of these iSight Cameras. Without knowledge there are three models and even the listings via sellers are not accurate. There are different cable adapters and mounts and most show a stock photo of the Camera which shows a mount with a button type adapter as shown here. All the cameras appear to be the same and have a very clear image. I could not get the camera to be recognized on the Windows environment.
Summary: Although I've been a big apple fan, for ten yrs I never used one until today. VERY NICE, but i look a little orange. Makes me want to try more mood lighting. I have a blue light, but that doesn't seem to do too much to it.
Summary: This product could be considered vintage, with its maximum resolution of 480p. It is a true feat in technological design and aesthetic trend. The body is machined out of aluminium and has a sturdy construction. It connects to my modern MacBook Pro with a FireWire converter. It sits perched atop my just-as-old Cinema display. Considering it's drawbacks, it still is a great but.
