Excellent accuracy, great value

Tom, amazon.com
20 June 2011
  • Summary: I am really impressed with the accuracy of this watch. It gains less than 3 seconds every 24 hrs, out of the box without any adjustment. This is very good result for inexpensive mechanical watch, since only high-end models have accuracy of about 1-2 sec. per 24 hrs. This watch is not very large by today's standards, but above average thickness and clear design gives it serious look.

Seiko 5 good mechanical watch

Doro "watchcrazy", amazon.com
8 January 2010
  • Summary: I got the watch for Christmas. I had a Seiko 5 maybe 20+ years ago, lost it in an airport. This watch keeps good time, gains about 5-6 seconds/day which is not bad for a mechanical watch. I found that if you shake it for about 2 minutes (as in winding it up) it will gain about 5 seconds. Three things about the watch I don't like: you can't hand-wind and it does not have a hack function, but all Seiko 5's are built that way. Then there's the bracelet.

Watch works but not as well as I like

Lynn A. Nelson "JED", amazon.com
5 December 2009
  • Summary: I like the watch but it needs adjustment almost every other day. The dial is not illuminated very long which means you can't see it when you wake up in the middle of the night. The band is what I really do not like. It is similar to the picture but is not very secure. Read: cheap, but you get what you pay for.

The jury is out....

Gary M. David, amazon.co.uk
6 November 2011
  • Summary: I bought this automatic watch in June 2011 for around £65. Since then it has become increasingly inaccurate despite being worn 24 hours a day, most recently losing up to 10 minutes in a 24 hour period or shorter. A good quality movement should not need regulating after just a few months careful wear, so I suspect this watch may just have been too much of a bargain. I have now sent the watch back to the retailer for repair under warranty, so the jury is still out.

Love my Seiko 5

N. Cook, amazon.co.uk
26 September 2011
  • Summary: Has all the numbers (apart from 3 - more on that later), a second hand, no need for batteries, day and date. I NEED day and date. the number "3" is a worthy sacrifice for having day and date. Even has a personality. Try not wearing it for a couple of days and getting the right time or day / date out of it - NO WAY BUDDY! As it's powered by movement it needs wearing as much as possible to keep running - relax, overnight or around a day and it should still run.
