Summary: I bought this watch four months ago from Amazon. I wanted a waterproof watch for my swimming workouts. This watch exceeded all my expectations. I wear it all the time and work out in the pool five or six times a week (I never tried to actually jump into the water with it, but I do swim underwater a lot, going all the way down to 13 feet), and have no leaks or any other problems like that.
Summary: This watch has a comfy band for diving and its look is clean and simple. Its an ideal watch for me and my hobby. I wear it out sometimes casually which makes this watch pretty cool. Price is affordable and cheap compared to the other great companies that make good divers but the Mako is my personal fave. You wont regret getting this one.
Summary: Got this Orient black mako two and a half month ago and still keeping very good time , gains 10 secs. a week not bad for an automatic. The face's easy to read time and day/date of the month, so far there's no scratch on the glass and still looking brand new. The watch is a perfect size for my 6 1/2 inch wrist , not a heavy watch and the rubber strap looks neat but tough.
Was going to buy an Omega Seamaster, but the Orient won my heart

Summary: It is not an Omega, but it sure has the simplicity I was looking for and it is very well built. You do have to wear it or the self-winding mechanism runs out after about a day. I like it because it is old school. Time, date, and sturdy. It is like an old car that focuses on a simple mission. This watch also seems to become better looking the longer I own it. I like the way it makes a statement that flash is not always the best.
Summary: I've been wearing a Citizen solar tech 200m diver for the past 10 years. Great time keeper, but small face and uncomfortable back due etched logo with sharp edges (fixed with dremel polishing tool). Service for new crystal and band was more expensive than this Orient watch, so I made the purchase. The first thing I noticed, was a very nice almost retro styling of the watch face with easy to read numerals at 3 points. Bezel worked much nicer than my Citizen watch too.
Summary: Very pleased with this watch. So far quite accurate. Very well-made. Really can't beat the price for a watch of this quality. If you want an automatic for a small price, not to mention a diver with screw-down crown and funky, yet very simple, day setting pusher, I would look here.
Summary: I was looking for a nice present for my brother-in-law. I purchased another Orient for him. It looked and felt so good. I then wanted a nice everyday watch for myself. This fit the bill. I took it for a backpacking trip through Italy, and it worked just great! Numerous compliments for strangers and friends alike. Because it is a very basic watch, there is nothing that can really go wrong with it.
Summary: This Black Mako was an excellent purchase. The automatic movement is excellent and does not need adjustment on a daily basis. Keeps excellent time. I keep watch on a winder, so it is ready to go. The rubber strap is excellent. It is not a hard rubber and does not take alot to get used to. Really molds to your wrist and will not move with the body heat. I appreciate the size for a woman's wrist, yet, on occaisions, my husband can wear the watch.
Summary: Didn't buy this model here, but directly from Orient USA. When it arrived, the crown came right off the watch when I pulled it out to adjust the time. Orient USA said it will issue a full refund if it finds the watch to be defective. From their email: YOUR RMA# 72079 - PLEASE WRITE THIS OUTSIDE ON THE BOX OR AS A REFERENCE FIELD I'll credit you back in full for the defective model after my inspection and I'll give you another $5 credit for the return shipping expense.
Summary: I purchased the Orient Black Mako in March 2009 after many hours of research into purchasing my first affordable automatic watch. After owning it for two months, I am not disappointed. It is a solidly built watch and the rubber strap is very comfortable. The bezel is hard to turn but that is not a big issue for me. I like that it is somewhat unique in that Orient is not a common brand in North America and the Mako's styling is it's own.
