Summary: I recieved this watch for Father's Day this summer after using a 205 for about 4 years. The 205 was great and collected rock solid data but didn't have an HRM and I couldn't use it in the water for Tris so I got the 910 Tri bundle. This bundle costs about $200 more than a 310 but I wanted the latest and greatest so I asked for this one.
Summary: Prior to this Garmin, my husband and I had Forerunner 305 units. They were a great work horse type of Garmin, but we wanted something for open water swims. We have become more and more frustrated with the ANT stick, which never seems to work unless we restart the computer, and the charger, which seems to turn the Garmin on when charging so it drains as it charges. We have two PCs and two chargers, so this is not an isolated incident. Oh, and the software updates?
Summary: I purchased this device in June and found that the distance and elevation were unreliable. The distance is consistently longer then a older 305. The elevations are all over the place, I am not just talking about 20 feet off they are off by more then a hundred feet. Sometimes the elevation jumps up or down instantly. The elevation is not reliable and gives different readings most of the time even on the same course.
Summary: When I first received my Garmin 910XT, I couldn't wait to try it out. At the time I wasn't disappointed. Setup with my Mac and eNewLeaf went well and the chest strap felt very comfortable. I was able to quickly and easily customize workouts for long runs and enjoyed not having to run with a box on my wrist. I was the envy of many of my friends UNTIL I tried using it in a triathlon last week. I pressed "Start" and began the swim leg of the race.
