Very basic for the price - Does not work well in water
26 July 2014
Summary: I purchased this watch 2 months ago, it does a decent job when running and cycling but is pretty awful in the water. 1st, it get confused with lap counts in the pool. I can understand but it is advertised as a indoor and outdoor training watch. 2nd it losses satellites connection in open water. Either way it is impossible to know exactly the distance you did.

Summary: Very good, enough lasting battery good. Good site for saving your results and to monitor these results. Everything was ok until one or two months ago. They changed the site and it doesn't support 610, 910 and others new Garmin models. It is inexplicable. Garmin ask you for wait. Sportsmen can't wait to check their results. I'd like to give 5 stars to the device. To Garmin I'd like to give zero, because they don't have respect for the customers.
Summary: I purchased this watch for my boyfriend. Within a month the watch broke down. It started giving problems before that, but completely stop working after a month. Amazon can't help you after a month of purchasing the product so you have to deal with Garmin. They took forever to send us a Refurnish watch that was scratched up. Basically $400 down thrown away.

Summary: I loved my Garmin 910XT for all the features they boast about - length counter in the pool, heart rate monitor, speed and pace in water and out, easy switching from one sport to another in a multi-sport event, the vibration alerts. The first 18 months were the honeymoon. Apparently, this is how the 910 often is - check out the Garmin message boards - because what happened next got ugly. My garmin started to not pickup downloads from my computer.
Summary: I bought the 910xt on the recommendation of my coach. Here are the problems 1. The speed fluctuates about 2 MPH at a steady state speed 2. It loses elevations 3. IT often erases data instead of recording it 4. It's nearly impossible to upload data you do record. Even after installing all new drivers, my new iMac cannot see the device. Like all the Garmin bike computers, these are too small and too finicky for professional use. They work on whim. Soooo frustrating.
Summary: I purchased this device for Tri Training here in NYC. It was recommended by coach as the only GPS watch that is compatible with Training Peaks. Really wanted to like it - but it's a classic Garmin device - unpolished, unfinished, unsupported, under documented. If you have the patience to constantly tinker to get your data files out of its grip and nurse it through its many curious inconsistencies than you are a far more patient man than I (and you probably live in...
Summary: When this product works it is a great product. I have had mine for a year and have experienced a number of different issues such as (a) software updates are ALWAYS a problem, they will never go ahead as planned and will end up with multiple emails to support (b) memory issues, sessions will be lost, race results will not be recorded, but support will somehow tell you that you must have done something wrong (c) Garmin support is a joke, their first priority is for you to...
Garmin 910XT doesn't get open water swimming accurate distances
25 June 2013
Summary: I bought the Garmin 910XT to get open water swimming distances, but it looses satellite reception all the time. The GPS doesn't work properly. I payed USD 345 for this device and I'm completely disappointed. I have the software updated and I've performed the AutoLocate procedure but it still doesn't work properly!
Summary: Purchased the device in April. By June a seal failed, allowing water to leak through under the screen. Since the initial 30 days after purchase had already passed, I became subject to Garmin's warranty program. The replacement unit will be one that has already been refurbished, and will only have a 90 day warranty, and I must pay for shipping and insurance. This is the third Garmin spots watch I have owned that has prematurely failed. Three strikes Garmin, you're out!
