What started out as a love affair has ended in divorce

Summary: I loved my Garmin 910XT for all the features they boast about - length counter in the pool, heart rate monitor, speed and pace in water and out, easy switching from one sport to another in a multi-sport event, the vibration alerts. The first 18 months were the honeymoon. Apparently, this is how the 910 often is - check out the Garmin message boards - because what happened next got ugly. My garmin started to not pickup downloads from my computer.
Works very well, looks ok, overall pretty much met expectations!

Summary: Ive been using for more than a month now for swimming and more ocasionaly running. It works. Simple as that. Also it gathers more data than an average athelete would care to use. If you are more advanced than its all there. I like that I can see the evolution over time of metrics that would be nearly impossible any other way. Depending on how you swin, you will have to make small adjustments so that your laps are perfectly counted.
Summary: I bought the 910xt on the recommendation of my coach. Here are the problems 1. The speed fluctuates about 2 MPH at a steady state speed 2. It loses elevations 3. IT often erases data instead of recording it 4. It's nearly impossible to upload data you do record. Even after installing all new drivers, my new iMac cannot see the device. Like all the Garmin bike computers, these are too small and too finicky for professional use. They work on whim. Soooo frustrating.
The Garmin 910XT is a vary versatile GPS with many great features!

Summary: This GPS watch is awesome! I bought it to replace my 8 year old Garmin 350. Battery life is fantastic and I really like being able to download my runs wirelessly. Although I don't plan on doing triathlons it's nice to know I have the option. The price is a bit steep however hopefully it will last many years like my previous one. I am very happy with my purchase.
