Summary: I'm a 5k runner on the weeks and a 10k on weekends that needed to keep right track on the distance. Pace does not show exact current pace, but i don't really care because I like to keep seeing the watch and calculate the pace based on the speed and distance. It is a great way to get your mind off the run for a while. If you care about exact pace on the watch this is probably not the best option.
Summary: I run for enjoyment and started doing 1/2 marathons and shorter runs just last year.I've used this many times since I got it in mid Jan. Picks up the satellites quickly, never longer than 1 or 2 minutes which gives me time to loosen up before my run. Great training tool, I can finally tell what the pace I want feels like. Easy navigation and setup. I'm not a huge guy but the wrist band is barely long enough-if you're a larger person you may want to check the fit.
Summary: I got this for my daughter. She's been running half marathons and has used this device a lot for training and during the races. She says that it does take a minute or so to connect to the gps but then it's perfect.
Summary: This is a great basic running watch. I can see how it would be annoying for someone who *needs* to see more things at once. I use it to track my mileage and I am ok checking in on my pace after each mile (the display flashes your pace after you complete each mile). If that mile was too fast I slow down a bit. The only weird thing is, I use this and my boyfriend uses an app on his iphone and his mileage is always slightly higher than mine.
Summary: You could spend a lot more on one of these things, but why bother? Battery life could be better I suppose, but a bigger form factor probably wouldn't be worth it. It's easy to use and the information presented on the watch is a great summary and the web app is great for more detailed info. Setup was a breeze.
Summary: I had read that the software for Garmin Connect lacks altitude data. Not sure if the company made a change based on customer reviews but after loading my run data in to Garmin Connect, it definitely had altitude data in raw format and in graphic representation. This product it so easy to use that I had zero issues setting it up and using it. I had absolutely no problems with the GPS not connecting or losing connection with the satellites..
